OK, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I give my straight, honest, unbiased opinion on these reviews and Gogiwa is NOT a five (5) star restaurant ... not even close. Went there this evening, Sat, 09 Oct, 2021, after another couple was raving about how good this joint was. Not sure what they were served previously, but I ordered two (2) of the same items they reportedly tried and my experience could not be more the polar opposite.
Upon arrival they were finishing up a to-go order and acknowledged me saying they'd be right with me. At the time, there was no one else there. After delivering the to-go order to a gentleman waiting outside, my order was taken, but while taking my order, the couple that I went there with walked in and his attention was on them from there on. After repeating my order & paying for it, I went outside the small building to wait and was later joined by the other couple. Now even though they ordered the exact same two (2) items (plus 1 additional item) that I ordered after me, they were brought their food items several minutes before I received mine, neither of which were freshly prepared. The Pork Mando was actually cold on top and the Korean Corn Dog was lukewarm at best. Neither was appetizing! As you'll see in the attached photos, they don't even serve you an entire hotdog weiner inside the Korean Corn Dog, they cut them in half and charge you $6 each! Also as you can see, about a third (1/3) of the lower portion of cheese was missing from mine, while the two (2) the couple I was with received were fully encased with cheese. I attempted to take a couple of photos to show a perspective of how little hotdog is actually being served.
While Gogiwa may serve other dishes that are flavorful, as other reviewers have indicated, however the items I received this evening and the service I received indicate otherwise. It's doubtful that I'll return to give Gogiwa a second opportunity to rip me off (see receipt), but if you decide to dine there be wary. And a word to the owner, you may want to reconsider the desire to relocate to Rehoboth Beach, you'll go out of business serving this kinda...
Read moreVery delicious. I tried the #2 Kimchi Bulgogi. The kimchi came on the side, so if you aren't sure about it, you can try it on its own. Out of all the kimchi I've had so far, this kimchi is one of fondest top kimchi to get in our area for me. The bowl is very filling. The rice is at the bottom, so it'll catch all the nice sauce and meat drippings. The sweet potato noodles are very delicious, and I think locally there isn't any other places that serve that. The dumplings are my favorite dumplings to get around this area. The sauce for them matched quite nicely. I enjoyed the greenery and corn in it (makes me feel like I'm getting my veggies a bit). The bulgogi was very yummy. If you are a fan of the food truck, Kangham Style, and enjoy their bulgogi, you will definitely enjoy this one as well.
The owner was very friendly and came to check on us.
Looking forward to coming back and trying out...
Read moreThe food here was amazing. My 7 year old daughter loved the noodles that we asked for. Little does she know the noodles are made of sweet potatoes! The spicky pork bowl was great and plenty of food. My father in law loved the beef bowl.
I can't say enough praise for the service we received. The man behind the counter, I'm assuming is the owner, provided us with the most amazing customer service. He was extremely nice and helpful. The noodles we requested for my daughter was not on the menu but he made sure she had some food. He even brought her some tater tots while we waited for our food. While we ate our food in a shared dinning area He came to check on us multiple times ensuring everyone was satisfied.
My father in law already plans to return here Monday. Get food great service!!! ...
