Review based on one meal on one visit for just the items ordered. Staff all wearing masks and tables set up for social distancing. Small place with good looking menu. Half dozen sandwiches with pulled pork or beef. Didnât specify the beef cut but does not mention brisket at all. Also plates and platters featuring St. Louis style ribs along with the other meats. Typical sides such as fries, potato salad(appeared to be home made), green/baked beans, hush puppies. Also offered apple sauce, guessing for the little ones. Sauce choices are original sweet or Carolina with vinegar base. So we chose to split a half rack of ribs plate with green beans and potato salad. And added two smoked polish sausages as they advertise they smoke them in house. Well they may smoke them, but Iâll wager big they donât make them. (They never said they did FYI) Tasted distinctly like a Bar S beef Frank/polish. Nice added flavor from the smoke but served at less than ideal temp. Sweet sauce improved them but I wouldnât order again. The ribs had a very nice smoke profile but were a bit too â fall off the boneâ. Still very tasty. Green beans over cooked to mushy. Potato salad very solid. Potatoes cooked very nicely and dressing wasnât too sloppy or heavy on mustard. A little black pepper did nicely on this but fine without. On a different day or meal I think they could be a good bit better. Advertise being around 20 years so must be doing something right. This meal a solid C+ but...
Read moreWalking in there's a sign to seat yourself, which is fine, but slightly unexpected. Within a minute of being seated the waitress welcomed us and took our drink order. She came back shortly and took our food order as well. I asked a few questions about their food and found out the following; they don't make their own french fries or hush puppies (which I ordered anyway), and I asked about their beans but they taste like they're from a can. I ordered the beef BBQ plate on a Kaiser roll with hush puppies and baked beans and another in my party order the BBQ chicken with fries and apple sauce. When my food arrived it was served on a 3 way Styrofoam plate with the BBQ on a regular burger bun. They served the hush puppies with non dairy whipped spread and when I asked for butter the waitress said "that is butter" to which I retorted with the fact that it's soybean spread and non dairy so it cannot be butter. The hush puppies, though store bought, tasted good, the beans were a little sweet and tasted canned. The BBQ beef actually tasted pretty good, a little too sweet but still good. Overall in a pinch this place can maybe satisfy simple needs but I wouldn't return unless there was...
Read moreIâm convinced this is a fraudulent bbq restaurant where the main tool of cooking in the back is a microwave. They did a really good job looking like a great bbq restaurant but then we noticed there were 0 other people in the restaurant and the menu seemed a little weird like there being no brisket?? There were a lot of small things wrong with my experience that were just a matter of opinion like bad bbq sauce, my sandwich bread was cold, etc. Besides those issues there were some things wrong with this place that are undeniably terrible, mac and cheese was served in an offensively small cup, and the craziest thing of all, my friend ordered the smoked sausage and received a singular hot dog, yes an actual hot dog as his âsmoked sausageâ THAT BLEW MY MIND. I would only recommend eating at this place to my worst enemies. I never have reviewed a restaurant before but this restaurant pushed me over the edge so here I am. A real shame to the bbq world, and shame on whoever is making the decisions to make this place so terrible. I would love to see some improvement in the food, but I will never realize these hopeful improvements as I will never eat here...
