We stopped in here after eating breakfast next door to grab some bagels for the week. We’re staying in Massanutten and my pregnancy craving is bagels all day every day! Hoping for something slightly better than grocery store bagels we were shocked to see the variety of delicious looking flavors and in house made cream cheese! We chose some everything, sesame, berry and French toast bagels to try along with honey walnut cream cheese and scallion cream cheese.
The bagels are OUT OF THIS WORLD!! Perfect texture and they load up on toppings. The everything and sesame bagels have toppings all the way around and the cream cheese was absolutely delicious! We’re headed back over there just a couple days later to load up on more and will stop in again to take some home with us. From there I know I’ll be craving these bagels every day. The French toast and sesame were my favorites.
On top of the amazing food the service was also incredible. It was National Bagel Day so they had balloons all over the shop and of course my toddler wanted one. The owner did not hesitate in cutting down a foil balloon to give to my daughter.
If you are in the area, skip any chains and head over to Mr. J’s bagels. You will not be...
Read moreHorrible service. Walked in and all three cashiers looked miserable didn’t even acknowledge we were standing there until we spoke first. Ordered food for myself my husband and our two daughters. Was told my 20 I used was counterfeit so I produced another one. (Actually went and verified at My bank which is First bank in Elkton and they run through their machine and verified it wasn’t counterfeit) I’m really not sure how they accepted either of my two 20s in that case, because they all came from the same bank. Anyways, so after that fiasco, we sat for about 20 minutes no food. Go to register to ask for a refund and the guy who I was speaking to doesn’t even respond. Just walks away to get another girl who says she can’t find my order. After searching they “accidentally” put my name as Brandon instead of Miranda. Because I defiantly look like my name is Brandon. They didn’t even apologize for their mistake and that our food has been sitting there ready for us this whole time. So after all that, we left and ate our cold sandwiches in the car. Defiantly not the Elkton hospitality...
Read moreStopped in on Monday for breakfast with my husband and my parents who are in the area visiting.
Pros: Restaurant was clean; especially the table tops/chairs.
Cons: Both my husband and I requested that our bagels be toasted with butter. Mine arrived toasted but absolutely slathered/drowned in a strange substance which I first thought was whipped butter but ended up being whipped cream cheese. My bagel looked like a giant Whoopie Pie with the filling oozing out. My husband's bagel came with no butter on it. There was enough cream cheese on my bagel to completely cover his as well. Both bagels were overly chewy and cold. My husband ordered home fries with sausage gravy, but it was inedible. The gravy was watery, had no flavor and definitely did not contain sausage. He ended up throwing them away. He ordered the Valley Cure but as a platter with the bagel on the side, and the eggs/ham came topped with American cheese which he didn't order. Don't think we'll...
