My husband has not sent food back in the 14 years we have been together, last night he did. It seems like a place that with the right chef it could be great, everything had potential it was just done poorly and without attention. We were overly nice to the waiter letting him know we didnât blame him the first few errors. Then we just stopped even asking for things and tried to get out of there fast. There was something wrong with every dish we ordered some were inedible. The only positive thing I can say was thankfully the bread and oil were good. Even after MULTIPLE errors on items ordered without changes from how they were listed no manager came by to offer apologies, no financial compensation was given they didnât even offer a free drink or dessert.. nothing. The decor is nice but the service and food does not match. The worst part for us was.. it was Valentines Day and we have 4 kids so a rare dinner alone is treasured. We were surprised 1/3 of the restaurant was empty until we started eating. They didnât even refill our water until we asked and we had a bottle of wine plus so water should be a given.
Romana salad- watery dressing or not dried lettuce and was missing the Parmesan. It was flavorless and tasted almost like stale water
The wedge salad- decent. Presented poorly with tomatoes that looked like my 6year old cut them and was missing the bacon which took 10 minutes to get and was cold when it arrived so not sure why it took so long
Calamari- was room temp and chewy my husband has an iron stomach and ate some but I stopped after a bite. The waiter took our salad plates which were mostly full still asking if we were done but then took the calamari with quite a bit left not asking if we wanted it. Not that we did but very odd. Also, they brought the salads and app together which is just bad for business at a wine bar.
Ribeye- ordered medium rare and he got it medium well it was a hot mostly brown center with no juices. Literally first time he has ever sent food back. We of course expected it to be redone on the fly being their error.. nope after having to wave him down 10 Minutes after it was brought to the table he said âoh well are you sure itâs going to take a long time to get anotherâ What?!?!?! The âside of pasta which was just linguini with olive oil my husband ordered was $15 but large at least so he said no to remaking it at that point and his holiday meal was pasta made like our 4 year old prefers. The potatoes on the plate were good but he took those aWay too without asking soâŠ
Pappadella bolognese- akin to chef boyardee regarding texture and sweetness with added flavor of some type of chili sauce added. No notable vegetablesâŠnot even garlic or onion just blah
my husband does not like to âcomplainâ so as a gift I did not speak to the manager instead I come here to warn others. Terrible terrible...
Read moreI frequented this wonderful restaurant years ago when I lived in town. When I came back I took one of my friends to introduce her to it. From the moment we walked in, I was very disappointed. It was not the experience I remember and it was embarrassing. The small coffee tables that changed colors no longer lit up and the funky mid century modern furniture had been replaced with unimpressive ordinary red furniture that did not match the decor. As we walked ourselves around the bar because no one took us to it, the place we would have liked to have sat at had not been cleaned or cleared apparently for some time. There was no bartender at the bar to even help us. A big chunk of the bar counter was actually cracked and falling off. We walked back into the main part of the restaurant and a light strip from under the bar was hanging off visible. Some of the booth benches upholstery were ripped completely across the seats. I was shocked to see all of this neglect. We decided to sit outside at a table which we walked to ourselves even after letting the hostess know we were doing so. The outside tables had not been wiped off either, so when the hostess came out to give us our menus, we had to ask her to wipe it off which she did. It then took us forever for anyone to bring us water. Now it was a a Monday evening and it was not crowded at all, the wait staff appeared to be congregating by the kitchen most of the time. We ordered some food and drinks and when the calamari arrived, it looked undercooked and there were no tentacles which is the part I like the most. It was tough chewy and inedible, and we sent it back without ordering it again. At least the waiter took it off of our bill, and again I was embarrassed. The one positive was that the shrimp gondola did not disappoint, it was just as delicious as I remember. We ordered dessert but the tiramisu was not ready yet and this was at 7:30 at night. So we settled for the creme brĂ»lĂ©e which was underwhelming. No vanilla taste and it was too eggy also there was no garnish, no berries, nothing. This is not the Facciâs level of food I remember. When the waiter did finally bring us the bill, he processed my credit card and forgot to put it back in the folder, so now I have to retrieve it this morning. I am saddened that my favorite restaurant in Ellicott City is in such disrepair and the quality of the food, wait staff, pretty much everything has...
Read moreIf I could give this restaurant a 0, I would. I took my sister there, it was her birthday she was turning 16. As we went there, everyone ordered food and we waited extremely long for our food to come. When my brother got his food, it was bland and all there was in the plate was wet noodles that tasted disgusting. The manager came over and we explained to him if he was able to take it back to the kitchen, and he kept saying they canât. Upon multiple conversations, we decided to tell them to just take it off the check and he still said no. So my brother asked if he could speak to the store owner. Our SERVER told us, âyes you can, let me get him for youâ. We waited 25 minutes and finally got angry and when we stopped the server to ask him where the owner was he said â oh he went homeâ. Then my sister whose birthday it was, found a pork sausage in her plate. Weâre strictly forbidden from eating ANY PORK products (weâre Muslim) or even consuming anything that touches a PORK product. So we respectfully told the manager about the concern again. He took it back the kitchen and brought it back and said âitâs a pork sausage but if she didnât eat it then whatâs the problemâ So we told him, she did consume it by putting it in her mouth and realizing it was sausage and mind you it was dark in there so we couldnât really see that well. At that point, we were frustrated. We decided to pay our bill and leave. As we were leaving out, we saw the OWNER sitting there, as we approached him we asked him âare you the ownerâ he which then responded to âyes Iâm the ownerâ we told him his server said he went home and he seemed embarrassed and had nothing to say. After this our waiter approached us to our car and seemed mad at us for not giving a tip. I absolutely can not believe the disrespect of this restaurant. There are so many good service restaurants where they will take care of you especially if youâre unable to eat pork and youâre finding pork sausages in your plate. Im gonna give this restaurant a -0 because thatâs what they showed us that they are. Im still thinking to take further steps because of the pork incident that they didnât even acknowledge or care about....
