Wow wow wow! I think this was the overall best brewery we visited while in Maine! The beer and the food were incredible! Add in the ambiance and you get this gem in Ellsworth.
We walked over from the main strip of downtown and loved the vibe as soon as we arrived. Walking down the stairs to get to the brewery versus the glass blowing shop was so cute. With apples on the ground from the apple trees, it couldn't be more "Maine".
When walking in, you order at the bar for both food and drink and then there is a booth/trailer out back where the food comes out. The inside is set up for open mic night and then outside they have a full stage where they host live music. There is plenty of seating outside at the picnic tables as well.
We ordered a couple beers, the Margherita pizza, the potato chips, and the Carrot Top salad. I cannot tell you howwwwwwwww amazing the salad was!! I have never had a salad like this and I ate every last bite. The roasted carrots were so good, combined with the crispy onions and the dressing; it was heaven. The chips were incredible and the dip that comes with it just elevates it that much more. I believe it was a pickle dip of some sort? I can't remember specifically, just that I needed a vat of it. Then the pizza?! We couldn't finish it but man did we want to! Add all this tasty food to a beautiful backdrop and we were the happiest little foodies in Maine.
Hands down best stop...
Read moreI am both a personal patron of Fogtown as well as a the owner of a restaurant that sells their beer. From the quality of the product, the vibe of visiting the beer garden in Ellsworth, to communicating and ordering for my business, I have only immensely positive things to say about this establishment. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and kind, working so hard in this crazy uncertain time. The turnaround for me from trying my first beer of their, to being able to create a wholesale account, and even be set up for special order for things that aren’t usually distributed all the way down to my location was SO FAST and seamless. Plus the beer is outstanding. What an amazing range of styles, from the only IPA I think I will ever say I love, to the beautiful Night Nurse stout, to Munich lager, and then also amazingly deft sours!! Such a wonderful magical place that deserves your support and not to get trolled because they are simply trying to make safe choices for themselves and...
Read moreBeer was good, but it took over 2.5 hours (!!!!!) to receive 3 pizzas, one of which was burned to inedible form (solid charcoal from top to bottom). We checked at the outdoor pizza counter repeatedly for hours and were told each time (first response after a 1hour wait was that it would be ready in another 20 minutes) that it would be ready shortly. After the 2.5-hour wait, we pointed out that one of the pizzas was inedible, girl at the pizza counter informed us dismissively“that happens with wood fired pizzas”. Other person working at the main counter reluctantly took the burned pizza off our bill and said “I wouldn’t have told you it would be 20 minutes, too bad you didn’t like it”. I totally understand that we ordered at a busy time but would have appreciated someone being honest/realistic about a 155-minute wait (would have just cancelled the pizza order and been happy with a few drinks). However the staff just strung us along and were...
