I recently dined at this restaurant and wanted to share my experience. While I had high hopes for the carnitas burrito, I found it to be disappointingly overseasoned and overly acidic. The flavors seemed imbalanced, overpowering the taste of the tender pork. Additionally, the accompanying cabbage slaw was overly vinegary, which detracted from the overall enjoyment of the dish.
Another letdown was the tortilla itself, as it was not heated properly. The lack of warmth affected the overall texture and made the burrito less enjoyable. Furthermore, the beans lacked flavor and were surprisingly chewy, leaving much to be desired in terms of taste and texture.
The rice, unfortunately, had a firm texture reminiscent of "Uncle Ben's" rather than the fluffy consistency one would expect. This inconsistency detracted from the overall quality of the meal.
On a positive note, the one standout was the canned Moxie, which was exceptional. It provided a refreshing and delightful beverage option that complemented the meal.
In conclusion, while the canned Moxie was a highlight, the issues with the carnitas burrito, cabbage slaw, tortilla, beans, and rice left me feeling underwhelmed. It is my hope that the restaurant takes these feedback points into consideration and works towards improving the overall dining experience for...
Read moreI found 86 This when I used my Happ Cow app when searching for vegitarian options in/near Bar Harbor Maine on Columbus Day weekend in 2017. My wife and I decided to try it and were hooked from the start. We each had the Yam I Am burrito and I also had the veggie chili. The chili was very good but the Yam I Am burrito was great. We ate that burrito several times over a few days including as we were driving back to tbe airport. This is our 9th year in a row of coming back to Acadia National Park at the same time of peak color of autumn. When we ate there for the last time last year, the staff were kind enough to give us the recipe and we have made it numerous times during the year with substituting quinoa instead of rice and as a "bowl" instead of a wrap. It was no surprise that it was tje first place we ate at on our way to Acadia this year. Its nice finding a spit that had geat vegetarian options with lots of flavor. And dont worry they have lots of meat options which usually is never an issue at most restaurants. Oh, the blueberry/habenero hot sauce was the bomb too. Try 86 This and you wont be...
Read moreThe food is great. We ordered here regularly until we noticed the line cook was wearing a face shield and a not mask.
We called and spoke to two staff members. The owner called me back and we had a very good conversation. Maine CDC guidelines do allow for a line cook to wear a face shield instead of a mask, while acknowledging that will do nothing to prevent them from making others sick.
This was honestly, the calmest, politest conversation about mask use in a restaurant I have had with an owner - and I’ve had several. I understand their decision, and respect the difficult position they’re in as well as the CDC guidelines. And I would vastly prefer line staff wear a face shield over nothing as many many other places are doing, or ignoring as staff drops their masks “because it’s hot.”
We are choosing not to eat there until the pandemic ends and/or I can vaccinate my whole family, because that’s a risk we aren’t willing to personally take. That’s not on them, as they are doing their best to follow the guidelines to the letter. I am beyond grateful for that. We will be back when it’s safe for...
