We were seated and completely ignored, as was the table next to us. They had been there about 20 mins at that time and we had been there 10. People coming in after us were seated and given drinks within mins of sitting down. I finally went to the bar and stood there until someone acknowledged me, at which point I told her that we and the table sitting next to us had no waiter or waitress come by in over 15 min. The lady said thank you for letting her know, and she came over and got drink orders and food orders. We waited almost another 30 min and finally saw some food in the window, which was ours. It sat in the window another 10 min before it was brought to the table. The poor people next to us, who ordered before us still did not have food. As we ate, we watched the food window for their food, we saw part of their food come up and then nothing. Finally when we were done eating their food was brought to the table and it was wrong. The one lady had ordered toast. It sat in the window for our entire meal! I'm positive it was cold and the older guy ordered a burger with no cheese and low and behold it had cheese. The cook was just beyond confused on what even went in the burger the guy ordered, apparently. The wait staff in this restaraunt are rather incompetent to say the least. One of the servers sat in a booth and talked to a set of customers for nearly 20 min while good sat in the window, people couldn't get refills, etc. The others just disappeared. They definitely need to be retrained on how to wait on customers....ALL customers not just their own. It's very disheartening to people to wait an hour with no food while others who just walked in get great service and their food in mere minutes! We normally love Black Bear and have nothing bad to say about them ever. Today, however, is another story. We literally changed truck stops for the weekend so we could eat here! But after this service, we are going back...
Read moreWe came in for dinner were disappointed and since we had to to a 34 we tried breakfast figured maybe it would be better than at night. NOPE just as bad maybe worse. Dinner my husband had the patty melt and he said it was good. I had the chicken pot pie which was God awful worst chicken pot pie I have ever had. Loaded with mushrooms no other vegetables in it and so much black pepper in it, it was gross just God awful. I wouldn't feed it to a dog. The mushrooms were rubbery too. I could not eat it gross gross gross!!! They need to change that recipe! I had to send it back. The manager took it of bill but charge us for the side salad that came after my husband was done with his food. really after he was done. Then waited 15 min after I was done for bill. Now on to breakfast my husbands was cold, hash browns undercooked - potatoes hard! His toast was over buttered soggy and cold. No one came over to ask how it was. My breakfast was so so, omelet was good but cheese not melted, I ordered fresh fruit instead of hash browns and I was glad. Wait over 30 minutes for check. No excuse for that. I had to go to the bathroom went to the bathroom and when I came back saw my husband was still sitting there. I had to say something as I was coming back and not happy to see him sitting still finally got the check. But we will never be back here. The inconsistency in the crappy service and the crappy food was consistent day or night. I'm still wondering how one person's order can be so bad and not the other's but not wondering why the long wait for ticket that's just because they are too worried about their phones and socializing with each other then taking care of the customer's properly. I saw that. 2 bad experiences with in less than 24 hours not good it down right sucks. They have lost a customer for ever. We drop the trailer and bobtail to a better restaurant if we are stuck parking...
Read moreEdit: Two months after original review. Visited again due to managers response. Went Monday morning at 6 AM. Was sat quickly, and food came out fast enough. Sadly, the food quality hadn't improved. My potatoes were crisp with occasional black on the outside, but practically raw on the inside. The chicken fried steak had a very hard battered outside. To the point where it hurt my teeth to eat, and the eggs ranged from over easy to hard. My wife's french toast was ok, but slightly gooey on the inside. I will say the milkshake we ordered were delicious. Did my best to give them yet another chance, and was still let down. I hope they get things settled out, but I truly won't be trying them again.
-Original review-
This review is based on three different visits. TLDR: More hit then miss, won't try again. Would never recommend.
First visit is when they first opened, it seems they had temporary workers with experience to train them. Seated imediatly. Took a little bit to get food, mixed results on food. One meal okay, the other very bland.
Second visit. Week or two later. Seated immediately. Customer across from us waited almost an hour for biscuits and gravy, they gave it to the wrong table and remade it. He ate one bite, swore and left. We had burnt chorizo, and raw pancakes. They remade pancakes, burnt on the outside okay on the inside.
Third visit today. Last chance. Waited near the booth to be seated/greated. Behind two couples. No one came over. Dining area almost empty. Worker we could see walking around behind counter. We left after 20 mins.
Sadly I see this place closing down before they figure out how to be a restaurant. I hate giving bad reviews, but I think I gave them enough...
