When I ordered my lunch, the employee behind the counter was texting on her phone. I kindly asked for the turkey sausage to be on the side and not in the omelet. She said ok and I went to get a glass of water and joined my friend at a table. She relayed to me how Amber was also very rude to her when she ordered. My friend (her first visit) was not greeted with a friendly demeanor or with respect. She also was not told where to get her coffee or that it is self-serve.
When my meal was delivered to our table the sausage was not on the plate. I asked for it and was told that I didn't order it?! But... Amber stated she will ask for it to be cooked and brought to our table. After a good 15-20 minutes, there was No sausage. A small thing but I was expecting it.... Here is the part that shocked and totally turned me off as a regular customer of Swami's.
When a waitress other than Amber asked how the meal was, my friend described Amber's angry and unkind tones. Amber than approached our table and asked why we were so bent out of shape...She said it wasn't a big thing and here is the Zinger...
Amber stuck both of her hands in the air and gave me the finger....I went to the front counter to ask for the manager. The man I spoke with had facial hair and a poneytail. He didn't give me anyone to speak with. At that time , Amber yelled my name and told me to leave the restaurant. I told her that I would leave when I was ready and I had a right to be there. I don't know what the management thinks of treating customers this way. I am telling all of my friends , letting the local newspaper know and will NEVER , EVER Step foot in that restaurant as long as Amber works there. I expect an apology from the owner and/or manager and an explanation of this horrible person's disrespectful and intolerable behaviour. ... How dare someone a complete stranger, who was taking my money for a service, treat myself, my friend and her co-worker with such distain, anger, andI don't care what you think attitude!!!
So my review states BOYCOTT Swami's and tell the manager you will not tolerate that behavior...This person is not worthy of any compensation and I wish I could take back my tip...she put a bad taste in my mouth for the spirtuality and reputation that this restaurant USED TO HAVE with myself...
Read moreThere are several locations in the area including one in Oceanside where we were staying. However, we wanted to go to the original one on the 101.
It is a quaint, typical SoCal beach town restaurant. They have some indoor seating, lots of seating outside in front of property, and some outdoor side seating. The side area is the one we sat at. It was overcast, a bit windy and cool, but this worked great for us.
My husband and I opted for two of their Specials. I had the Lobster Eggs Benedict; he had the Hanna Banana Peanut Butter Oatmeal. My choice was delicious. The eggs were perfectly done. The hollandaise sauce was creamy and flavorful. The lobster tasted very fresh and not a bit tough.
The real winner here was the Oatmeal. There was about two spoons of peanut butter in the middle of the oatmeal. It also included sliced bananas, sliced apples, and walnuts. The combination of all, was fantastic. I had a little taste because my husband wouldn't share more than that. For the record I kept offering my breakfast to him. He took a bite of mine and liked it; but he adamantly expressed the Oatmeal was exceptional and was very glad he got it. A local very nice lady was having the oatmeal as well near our table. She said that this is all she's ever had at Swami's and orders it every weekend.
They also have a great selection of self serve coffees. We tried the blueberry coffee thinking we wouldn't like it and could get something else. It turned out it was smooth, not too sweet,. simply delicious.
We will definitely return next time we are in the area. Might try the one in Oceanside. Other reviews indicate that the food is pretty consistent for all locations. But this location is so unique odds are we'll be back to...
Read moreThe Original Swami's, where the famous chain started. I have fond memories of the beach and the city and of course this restaurant.
I remember years ago building drift wood forts every Friday, after getting breakfast here of course.
Smalli's compared to Oceanside and Carlsbad this place is weather dependent and ergonomics and layout obviously were not a priority. Maybe they didn't have the foresight to see such growth? Anyhow, sit outside, bring your sunglasses and be prepared for the wait. Scrambles are my go to if a smoothie doesn't hit the spot.
I love riding here and with the lack of parking and most people using the lumberyard laying my bike in the bushes is perfect.
I highly recommend the Pitaya bowl over Acai due to low glycemic index. Plus the flavor and color are amazing, skip the coconut and granola as the bowl size is plenty for breakfast and the added calories and fats are unnecessary.
Burrito's are large but not overly filling, much of their menuis vegetarian and high fiber so if you want the heavy stuff go to Potato shack or the fancy stuff go to Champagne French. This is quintessentially Encinitas. Service is pretty good, but not overly attentive, remember this is breakfast, healthy and not dining. Plenty of healthy options.
I like their waffles and French toast more than the pancakes (except for the multigrain organic waffles which give great texture. Plenty of fresh fruit options for you and the kids.
This is the perfect start to any Saturday or Sunday for those not looking to travel far or wait too long (HH, Snooze, and other buzzing...
