i don't want to cause any confusion with my review but the food here was 5 stars and the reason for my 1 star review is to bring attention to the atrocious customer service from the front counter order taker to the servers who brought our food out. we walked and were asked if we had ever been before (which we hadn't been previously) and they seemed like they didn't care. we had to ask what was a good recommendation about each item and seasoning just to get an idea of what we wanted. the guy taking the order was absolutely ignoring us while on his phone trying to hide it behind the register to the point where we would have to ask the same question two or three times. i cannot express enough how frustrating he made the ordering process because he did not care at all what he was suggesting or the horrible DGAF attitude he showed. that was quickly followed up a few minutes later when our plates were brought to our table outside by two different servers. here is where it got bad and frustrating because they were both placing our tacos, salads and other dishes on the table and telling us what they were all at the same time so we didn't know what was the salmon, which was the swordfish etc. they just wanted to bring the food to the table and get back to the grill area i'm sure to jump on their phones or do something non productive. i cannot stress enough how bad the service was and it all could've been avoided by simply paying attention to the customer while taking our order and then explaining what dish was on what plate when the food got to the table. i would advise you to visit based on the food alone if you...

I lived most of my life in the Seattle area before relocating to NV three years ago. I knew I was going to miss the seafood options but I didn't realize just how much. Luckily, I can be sitting on the beach in CA after a quick, four hour drive. Honestly, if you live in the Seattle area, it takes at least a couple of hours to get to the actual ocean by car but we do have the Puget sound so there is a lot of salt water and seafood to be had everywhere. Honestly, I'm a CA seafood-tourist now. When the jones becomes too great to bare, I head out for a weekend getaway and places like the Encinitas Fish Shop are what I live for.

I'll always be a proud Northwesterner but I'll make the admission that I kind of prefer the seafood experience in CA now. Something about the sun and sandy beaches. Not a lot of those in the Seattle area and definitely not much sun. I didn't hate the rain but I definitely don't hate the sun.

My favorite fish and chips of all time will always be Alki Spud in West Seattle. they are the standard by which all others shall be judged but I love Encinitas Fish Shop for their variety and options that I couldn't find at Spud's. The fish and chips were fantastic and the shrimp were better than Spud's offering. The chowder in a bread bowl was also better. The service was friendly and helpful and the ambiance was great. We'll go out of our way to visit again when we're...

I really enjoy the food here, but today I had an unpleasant experience with staff. Everyone else here seems nice, but when I go to pickup carry out, the staff has not been very friendly towards me. I have been here three times and last time I ordered something online, they forgot the tartar sauce and I didn’t notice until after I had left and it was a bit dry. Whatever I was not going to complain. I ordered again today and in the request I put “can you please put tartar sauce in the bag?” Tell me if I am being crazy, but they wrote “yes I can” on my carry out box and I just thought it was unnecessary and passive aggressive. Hopefully I am overthinking but if someone wrote this on your food wouldn’t you feel a little strange? When I grabbed my food, one of them asked me if I wanted any condiments or utensils and another staff member looked at me and said I already put everything in the bag and I put extra tartar sauce in there. I am fine with paying extra for condiments and this is something minor but this interaction came off as rude and was a little strange. I don’t know if I want to return as I don’t feel welcome here. As much as I love the food it would be nice if the staff upfront was more friendly and didn’t write strange things on...
