Encinitas Library — Attraction in Encinitas

This is no library, its a daycare for mentally unwell people and a shelter for the homeless when it rains.

I have no problem with this had I known before going in so I could of been aware but instead went inside with two young kids who were harrassed by two mentally handicapped children that plague this library on a regular basis.

One of these kids came up behind my daughter and jumped at her making a loud vocal noise scaring her. The other one sat in the childrens book section on a table across from my then 4 year old staring locked gaze while picking their nose and wiping it under the table.

They were doing it constantly so i brought it to the librarians attention WHO SAW IT HAPPENING, and refused to do anything about it. She said there was nothing she could do. I said they are actively defacing property and disturbing children , and she basically said it was fine.

That was the last time i ever went, but my daughters friends from paul ecke elementary have all shared similar stories and experiences and dont like going there, as recently as a few weeks ago encounters with these two erratic mentally handicapped people that get dropped off by their father. Very comfortable, bright, modern facility and amenities, great views through large wrapping windows and friendly staff. I usually find a cozy seat in the quiet SW corner with an ottoman and peaceful ocean view; pop the earbuds in and get to work. 5 stars only if they had a few partitioned work spaces to keep distractions to a min.

Two important things I didn't see other reivews mention is free access to WIFI and POWER: 1)WIFI is free and has good coverage throughout, but it's open/unsecured like most hotspots are (e.g. coffeshops) and has some built-in restrictions to content access. Ping/Upload/Download speeds are modest but effective.

2. POWER outlets may be hard to find. HINT...look to the floor! They're tucked away in rectangular floor boxes as the library design uses a raised access floor system for HVAC and other utilities (leaves the open ceiling space look much...

Went to this library today for a change of scenery for studying. It was beautiful, easy to find, and lots of parking. The table I sat at had plenty of electric outlets, which was nice because I needed to charge my computer for a bit. It was very well lit and the views of the ocean can't be beat. I was even able to get a pick-me-up snack from the cart outside. It looks (and sounds) like they do a lot of great programs there, but that was not a part of the visit today.
