This was my first and likely last visit to Marian's Piazza. We went to the Englewood location, and at first glimpse it seems like q very nice, upscale place. But when the time to pull out your wallet you will realize how they cover the costs of operating a higher lass pizza store...I ordered a 13in pizza. That's their large, and only have one other size which is small. I asked for sausage & onion on one half, pepperoni & mushroom on the other half. The total for just the pizza was $19.62!!! I was shocked obviously. When I asked the manager why a 2-topping pizza is $15.95 on the menu yet I qas changed almost $20. His response was that I ordered a 4-topping pizza not 2...I said no its half and half. He proceeded to tell me that it doesn't matter if you only want a topping on 1/4 of the pizza its charged as an individual topping. So for each ingredient you are charged for a topping. So I changed the order to just a 13in pepperoni instead and it still cost $15.96. I remained sceptical because I don't mind paying high price for quality food. Then I had to go to another register and order our drinks, 2 large fountain drinks came to $3.62, and they aren't even large, its a 24oz cup. The final issue here that just blew my mind was there are no free refills on the fountain drinks, except iced tea and coffee. They over charge for their food and apparently can't afford to give their customers a free refill on their drinks...When I got the pizza it was average at best. It reminds me of Cassanos pizza or pizza king on the style of the pizza. So it was in no way worth the $20. On top of all these issues when I was finding out about the reason for my pizza being so expensive I was referred to the manager. He was very rude about the whole ordeal, acting almost as if it was a huge inconvenience for him to take care of the issue with me. Overall it was a very bad and disappointing experience and I can definitely say I won't be returning even if it was going to be free. If you have a choice you would be better off going to Little Caesar's! It might not be the best tasting pizza but at least you are getting what you paid...
Read moreLet me preface this review by saying we are new to the area and come from a region where all our pizza places are awesome and we choose from the best of the best. Our pizza standards perhaps may be too high... Marion’s is very close to our home and convenient.
Now for the the review.
We have had Marion’s three times now. I thought maybe “third times the charm”. It was not.
I’ll start with our dine in experience. It is cafeteria style dining, which isn’t always a bad thing. It was clean inside but a little out dated. Approaching the doors you’ll notice signs plastered stating ‘NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK ALLOWED’ I thought to myself “hm kind of a no brainer”. However, they really want to drive this message home because all through the facility you can find these signs. Anyway, I shrugged it off. I find a seat while my husband ordered. He came back to the table and asked me to grab our drinks. I did so, and was given two large pops. As I walked away an older women (employee) stopped me and asked if I dropped our receipt. I glanced down at the receipt she had in her hand and told her that it was our receipt. She then began to very rudely tell me that we purchased one small and one large drink and that we had two large drinks. (My husband ordered) I apologized and she cut me off and told me to just keep it. She was very rude about the whole exchange. They bring you your food without napkins, utensils or plates...
Now for the pizza: Two sizes 13” and 9” Very thin crispy crust Moderate amount of flavorless sauce. The toppings appear to be very cheap and they apply they very heavily Very little cheese that taste cheap All toppings are on top of cheese The pizza is cut into 1inX1in pieces
Garlic bread (please just don’t.) Top part of a hoagie bun with garlic butter and one piece of processed sliced white cheese that does not melt.
If you are looking for “Dayton’s #1 pizza” this isn’t it....
Read moreIf there were more stars to give I would have given them! Here is why: Tonight we ordered a pizza for pickup and when I got there to pay the pizza was keyed in wrong. They immediately offered to make it correctly and rush it through (seeing they said it would only take a little over 5 minutes, I said that would be great). At that point, I was just grateful they wanted to make me the correct one. And here is where Marion's Englewood went above and beyond! The cashier immediately printed my corrected ticket, got the order being made, then went straight to the manager and explained the situation. I could see them talking but didn't know what was being said. She came back to the counter and said "We're really sorry about this, would you like something to drink while you wait?" I refused the offer, thinking to myself "wow that was really nice of them to offer that, but I'm only going to be here a few more minutes." So I waited the rest of the 5 minutes and then they called my number. I was shocked because the guy that handed me 2 pizzas and said to have a great evening! I just assumed it was the corrected pizza and the mess up pizza, but it wasn't until I got home and sat down to eat supper with my wife and kids that I found out they had sent me home with 2 of the correct pizza!! I NEVER write reviews, but this was service beyond what was expected and deserved noting! You just do not see or experience this kind of thing very often these days, and it was...
