TJ Chumps — Restaurant in Englewood

This is simply the benchmark of mediocre chain restaurant food. It's on par with most other chains that offer casual dining and food that is mediocre. It's not great. It's not bad. It could be better. It could be worse. The chili and ribs and chicken and all else are simply that. The mediocre that sets the standard where you should strive to do better if you are a restaurant and shame on you if you do worse than this standard of quality, value, and experience. One area of greatness was noticed here though. This appears to be a very well managed location. The hostess did her job. The server was phenomenal. And I seen a lot of teamwork taking place to be sure guests all have a good experience. The standard for mediocre food is here. But management, nicely done. Kudos to management and staff for exceeding the standard of service you usually find at the mediocre standard chain establishment. So while the food quality may not set this place apart from other casual dining chains, the service here might be a reason to done here versus elsewhere within the casual dining chain...

We were traveling across Interstate 70 and Google search found TJ Chumps. Not knowing the area, we saw pretty solid reviews. This is a family/sports bar kind of place. On the day we visited, Ohio State football was on all their big screens. The restaurant was pretty full but we were seated quickly. Abby was our server and made some great food suggestions. She checked on us frequently and did a great job. We both got burgers that were cooked perfectly. Abby explained their sauces used on the burgers were made in house and we both really like them. The house made chips with house made dill dip were so yummy!! I would stop again for the chips and dip! The manager stopped by our table and checked that everything was good. Here's the picture problem with this establishment, the people working there. The food has the potential to be good, but with the god awful dining experience and the kitchen staff constantly messing up orders it leaves you wondering why this would be something you would want to pay for. Sure they have a decent amount of selection menu wise, but when your food is getting cooked by burnouts that only work to meek by in life, you could go elsewhere and have your food cooked by an actual chef with a passion and pride in what they cook for you as a customer. I get that they are a bar and grill type of establishment but seriously if you want long term customers that are not just drunks the food could be executed much more effectively with people that give a bit of pride in what they do.
