As a previous business owner, one of the first things I learned was the first person that greets you into a business sets the tone. I came in yesterday to dine in, and Ashlyn was working the cash register. She greeted as we walked into the restaurant. It was our first time at the restaurant so we were looking up as most people do at the menu. The gentleman that was at the register at the time finish paying and we stepped up to the register. We started to ask questions about the menu portion size, etc., and she looked irritated that we were asking. After approximately 45 seconds at the counter, another couple walked in. We were still at the counter discussing amongst ourselves what we were going to places our order and Ashland, who, by this time irritation was written all over her face, looked past us and said to the couple that walked in and stated âare you ready to place your orderâ I immediately looked at her, and I said Iâm in the middle of placing my order. She immediately rolled her eyes made a face and at first I did not respond. But it was quite evident that she was irritated. We placed Our order And I debated at that time whether to speak to the manager. I chose not to because I wanted to enjoy my meal, but it certainly put a damper on my first experience to your restaurant. We sat down on the table and. a very nice young man came over and brought us our drinks and forks, which was a nice added touch. In the meantime, as we were sitting there having lunch, I observed Ashlyn interact with several other customers who came in and out of the restaurant. As I watched her interact with other customers as a retired teacher and leader in the community I felt compelled to make it a teaching moment so that she would understand the perception that she gave us. I waited until I finish my meal, sat there for a few minutes, and then I calmly walked over to her when there were no other customers around or coming into the building. I said the following to her - Excuse me, Ashlyn may I speak to you for a moment? (she immediately rolled her eyes as if I were bothering her). I said please do not roll your eyes. I want to give you some advice as a 73-year-old African-American woman who has owned a business, a retired professor, retired license therapist. Your attitude was very apparent and perceptions are everything when you own a business or deal with the public. Some advice I would give to you is if thereâs something else going on you need to check yourself. But I observed you for the time that I ate in here at the restaurant and you did not display that irritated bothered attitude, make the faces or roll your eyes at any other customer besides myself and my friend. I want you to know that I chose not to ask for the manager because I know how that can often go left instead I made a decision to make this a teaching moment for youâ. At that point, she rolled her eyes and said âyou can do whatever you want to do. I did not roll my eyes and you can speak to whoever you want to speak to And step from behind the counter.âPlease note I was not behind the counter. Again called her by name and a very low voice because customers were coming in and I said Please take this as a teaching moment from someone who is old enough to be your great grandmother. I said if youâre going through something, let your manager know. But the attitude that you displayed towards us was not good customer service.â Should I have called the manager as I look back? Yes I shouldâve. Her demeanor, her attitude. Her response to the feedback was so negative that as a Previous business owner, she is not someone that I would want representing my business on any level. You can have the best food in the world, but your employees other ones to deal with the public. Ashlyn, I gave you an opportunity so I would not have to make this a public post. Hope you learned a life...
Read moreSo I've lived in Las Vegas for a few years now. When we first arrived, we were delighted at how much lower the prices were than they are in WA. A few years in, we now see that a lot of restaurants are taking their cues from the casinos here and hitting customers with annoying fees or higher than normal charges. As of last week, I'm officially done with that and my grading of places that do it is going to be pretty harsh.
I usually love Zaxby's food. I've eaten there in other states as recently as the last three months. They're not the greatest chicken strips or sandwiches in existence but they're pretty solid if the price is right. I almost always stop at the Cedar City location when I'm on my way north. The franchise owners there are extremely hospitable and reasonable. Their prices are fair and they are generous with their sauces. They are my primary experience with Zaxby's and my opinion has been very favorable. It's also notable that there's no way that the Cedar City location is pulling in the numbers that this location is on a very busy road so it stands to reason that this location is pulling in more sales by customer volume. I understand that they're competing with a new Bojangles a mile or two up the same street, as well as all the other spots here like Popeye's, Church's Dave's Hot, Good Ol' Chicken, etc. I realize that's a lot of competition but when I drive past, their parking lot doesn't appear to be empty so I assume they're getting folks in the door.
You know how you get loyal customers? Don't abuse their trust by charging significantly more for your offering than other locations of your own restaurant. You may get that over on the new people who've never eaten there but you are going to incur some wrath from those of us who are familiar with you. My wife and I usually get a 20 strip basket and share it. That order at this location was a full $10 more than it is in Cedar City. Making matters worse, they only give you 4 sauces to eat 20 strips with. 4 sauces ÂŻ(ă)/ÂŻ That would probably work with 20 nuggets but no way it works with 20 strips. So I'm supposed to go into this overpaying by $10 knowing I'm gonna have to buy more sauce about 11 strips in? I'll pay higher at places like Good ol' Chicken that have bigger strips that are more of a premium quality but I know what I'm getting at Zaxby's and I know how much it should cost. Maybe if you were the only strips in town but there are just so many other great options. Church's and Popeye's are cheaper and almost always have coupons. Farm Basket is right up the street as well. Dave's Hot chicken strips are massive. I'll never be back but maybe you should avoid pissing off the next guy. Next time I'm in Cedar City enjoying some strips, I'll tell them about this so they can use this location as a...
Read moreI've been to one Zaxbys before in North Carolina last year and was not impressed , but decided to give this one a try anyway. The one I went to in the small town of Laurinburg had dirty tables and a large puddle of water by the soda machine and the manager told one of the employees to clean it up and they were not very enthused to do it. Also not the friendly Southern Hospitality I'm used to when I visit the Carolinas.
I came here almost 2 weeks ago. Now this location as soon as I walked in was clean as a whistle , even the parking lot. Also there was no one sitting in the dining area which many people like myself get their orders to go. I walked in with an older couple and they went to the counter and looked at the menu and said all you sell is chicken ? I found it funny. They decided to leave without ordering anything. I had placed my order on the App and you get a free order of Chicken Tenders when you sign up.
I saw an advertisement for the Chicken Fajita Quesadilla a week or so before , so that is what I got with Spicy Zax Sauce. I also got the Crinkle Cut Fries , Lemonade which was supposed to be Frozen , but they were out of the frozen and 5 Chicken Tenders tossed in Tongue Torch sauce. The counter person greeted me as soon as I walked in the door and kept me informed about how much longer for my order. He was very nice and so was the lady that came out a few minutes later.
I really liked the Chicken Fajita Quesadilla and it was fat. I would definitely go back for it. The Crinkle Cut Fries were also good and is one of my favorite ways to get fries. The not Frozen Lemonade was bad ! When I got home I put a third of it in a glass and mixed it with sweet tea I had to drink it which helped it a lot. The Chicken Tenders were okay. I think they may have been better if I got plain and dipped them in sauce , but when I had them in N.C. I didn't think they were that good and I got them plain and used the Spicy Zax Sauce or the Sweet and Spicy. I said then and now that Cane's and Chick-fil-A have better tenders. Bojangle's Chicken Tenders are not good and they messed up not bringing Boned-In Chicken because the Fried Chicken Breast are so good. I will only go there for breakfast.
I would like to try the Asian Salad and a Milkshake sometime when I'm in the area again. I would recommend you trying it if you haven't been to one. The Chicken Fajita Quesadilla is the...
