Update 3 (several months later): Changed to a 4.8 star review. Whatever they changed worked! I’ve been back several times and the service has been really good/friendly and they have always had at least 1 apple fritter left, even late. Much prefer the authentic taste of these donuts over the Instagram shop down the road! There are 2 donut shops that are too far away that have earned a full 5 star — Mazzoa has a line up that is on par with the best but I personally don’t like their version of buttermilk. Twists, bars, cronuts, and (of course) apple fritters are top notch! Try other places in the southwest all you want, it will just leave you yearning for Mazzoa — (just please leave an apple fritter for me)! Hats off to the preparers of these tasty treasures 🍩 Update: Went for donuts the next morning and it turns out, the manager(s)/staff do read the reviews. They just don’t reply online or talk about it (with the customer). The lady I saw the day before was working, but this time with two other ladies. She recognized me from the day before, and mentioned so to the ladies she was working with; “that’s the person who left the review”. Sadly, no one struck up a conversation about it. They talked amongst themselves while the small shop echoed their conversation, which was pretty awkward. The donuts here are still good (I’ve returned 3 times since), I just wish there wasn’t a weird barrier between the employees and customers that developed several months after this shop first opened. The opening crew was bubbly and friendly, and now it’s like trying to get a drink from the annoyed bartender. However, there are a couple of well-treated regulars in between the rest of us donut-buying varmints, so maybe there’s hope! Donuts are still awesome (and approved by a Portland friend visiting, which says a lot because Portland has some pretty good donut shops!), so I’ve updated the review to 3.5 stars (5 for awesome donuts and 2 stars for service) (original review - two stars) Truthfully, I love this place … the cronuts are amazing, but the apple fritters top my favorites list! But here it is a Sunday, 45 minutes before their posted closing time on Google, and though I didn’t expect for there to be much available, the lights are on, the doors are locked, yet there’s two muscle guys sitting at the tables telling me the store is closed and the lady behind the counter is taking trays donuts out of the display… Hoping the owner sees this review because I don’t know another way to tell them they lost at least two sales to the trash can (another person was walking up when I was leaving)

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Mazzoa Donuts, and I must say it was an absolute delight. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the warm and friendly staff who made me feel incredibly welcome. Their genuine smiles and attentive service created a positive and inviting atmosphere right from the start. One thing that really stood out to me was the Christian music playing softly in the background. It added a special touch to the ambiance, creating a calming and welcoming environment. It was refreshing to enjoy my donut while listening to uplifting melodies, which added to the overall positive experience. The dining area at Mazzoa Donuts was a perfect haven for indulging in a delicious treat and engaging in conversation. The space was nicely laid out, providing a quiet and comfortable atmosphere. I appreciated the well-maintained cleanliness and cozy seating arrangements that allowed for both personal space and opportunities for friendly interactions with fellow customers. Now, let's talk about the donuts themselves. Mazzoa Donuts truly excels in this department. Their donuts were a delectable delight. The variety of flavors and textures available was impressive, catering to a range of taste preferences. From classic glazed to creative and unique combinations, every bite was a burst of happiness. The donuts were fresh, flavorful, and made with evident craftsmanship and attention to detail. Overall, my experience at Mazzoa Donuts was nothing short of exceptional. The friendly and welcoming staff, the comforting Christian music, and the pleasant dining area all contributed to an atmosphere that felt like a little oasis. Coupled with the scrumptious donuts, it was an unforgettable visit. I highly recommend Mazzoa Donuts to anyone looking for a delightful treat and a tranquil place to enjoy it.

It looks like a beautiful place inside. It is a beautiful space inside. It’s definitely a take out spot. Friendly service & definitely an overpriced donut for the lack of quality. Sad to hear they don’t make their donuts on site. Not very promising after finding out that piece of information. Croissant, I did not take a photo of it. It was decent. I’d say it was about a 2.5-3. It’s not easy to make a fluffy, tasty, high quality croissant. Their donuts were not great. Way too much sugar on one side. Not evenly distributed. Looks like it was made on purpose like that. Left a terrible aftertaste that is still stuck on my palette. The sugar on all the donuts seemed as if these donuts were made yesterday or late last night. The sugar crumbles as soon as you bite in or grab the donut. Normally that is something that happens several days after the initial purchase. The Bavarian cream was subpar. There was a flavor in the cream that leads me to believe it wasn’t Bavarian cream (the server confirmed it was when I asked). All in all, I’ve been wanting to try this space for quite some time & im disappointed it didn’t live up to the quality I had hoped for it.

Late review.

This place has terrible service. Ordered some jalapeño ham and cheese croissants which are tasty. But when I was eating it, there was a giant black hair coiled all through the croissant.

I understand accidents happen, so I called and was very nice about it. I didn't complain, just asked if they still had some so I could swap it out for a new one.

When I got there I waited patiently and kept it in the bag. Even waited for other customers to be away from me. Finally got to hand over the bag and tell the girl I was the one that called. She looked pissed that I had the nerve to come back. Told me I'd have to wait for a manager.

Same girl came back a couple minutes later and asked me how many donuts I wanted. She completely forgot I was there to swap out a croissant. I quietly reminded her and she got upset. She then threw a croissant in the bag and said give you another one "this time"

THIS TIME? How about every time you screw up and bake a foot long hair all throughout a customers food you replace and apologize. Maybe offer them a free donut so they'll be gracious enough to spend money with you again. Nope, she just kicked me out.

I didn't make a fuss, didn't complain. Just not gonna go back because this place sucks. Donuts aren't even that good. Place is just really close to my house.

Take your money somewhere else. This place...
