We had an unpleasant experience here as people of color. We were in a situation where one of the employees followed our car as we left the establishment’s drive-thru in order to take down our license plate number. I have a detailed outline of what occurred and what led me to feel unsafe in this location.
We were paying customers and we were as flexible as we could be when one of the employees told us that they were out of forks. My mother has a strong accent, so sometimes she struggles to be understood, but she was a little surprised at the fact that there were no forks and maybe the server struggled with her tone. It’s fine that they didn’t have forks and we were understanding about that. We then ate our food in the parking lot because we were hungry. While eating, my mother and I wanted to split our Baja Blast, so my brother tried to go inside the establishment to ask for an extra cup so that my mother and I could split the Baja Blast that she ordered. He tried to get in twice, but it was locked; this makes sense due to the pandemic and staffing. Again, this is no big deal. We went through the drive-thru again and the same gentleman who served us gave us the extra cup. My mom made small talk and asked him why the door was closed, he let us know it was because they were short-staffed, which is completely understandable, but something felt off with the lady who was standing there with him. My mom made a comment saying something like “Oh yeah that seems to be happening everywhere!” Again, they seemed offended by her accent and manner of speaking? When my mom asked if there was a trash at the establishment, the gentleman told her to go to Cumberland Farms next door to throw it out. We went about our day and left the drive-thru again. This is when the lady standing with the man, came out and started taking our license plate number. It made me feel uncomfortable and like we were being treated like criminals or second class citizens for asking for service when we had paid for our food. I asked her why she was taking our license plate number and she mouthed something and went back in. I felt scared because we were the only non-white people in this establishment at this time and I sincerely do not know what they thought we did wrong.
I understand that service workers have a hard job as I have also worked in food service, and I understand certain things are above their pay grade. However, I am unsure as to why they were so reactionary when they couldn’t provide us with forks or a trash can. Again, it’s not a big deal and I don’t want to seem petty, but the whole situation as a whole was definitely escalated by the staff. It’s not a big deal that there were no forks or a trash can, but I do not understand why us asking about that warrants them taking our license plate number down.
Anyway, I called customer service at Taco Bell and I let them know about this situation. The person on the phone was incredibly helpful and understanding and helped us mediate the situation.
If you are a POC, I definitely recommend that you avoid the establishment in this location because there are major “Get out” vibes and you will not be met warmly. This whole interaction and experience felt like a giant...
Read moreThis is by far the worst fast food place I have ever been too. This team works like they have no leadership. They are rude and unprofessional calling each other names while the drive thru window is open. The gentlemen with the orange hair is the worst of them all. I would come here 3 times a week because I drive by it late at night on my way home from work then I would only stop once a month after Friday 11/27 I will never stop here again. I was the only car in line all employees were outside smoking. They made in known I was a bother interrupting them. I ordered toasted cheddar chulpa NO TOMATOES a grilled cheese burrito and 2 sides of sour cream I would have ordered Baja blast but no surprise their out. Again I was the only customer in line. I got tomatoes on my chulpa I’m allergic so thank god I checked. Then I paid for but didn’t receive my sour cream to top it all off none of the staff even spoke a word to me other then my total all while having to wait 15 mins. As an RGM myself I’d be embarrassed if this was my staff and my...
Read moreIt's Taco Bell soo...I really like Taco Bell it's my go to fast food quick bite texmex spot. The vegetables around 800pm on a Saturday are pretty fresh and have a good crunch. I got a chalupa, a taco and taco fries. The order was correct, fast, and the server at the drive thru was nice and polite. Whoever wrapped up the chalupa and taco, thank you so much. Finally, someone that wraps tacos and chalupas properly so you don't have to dig in the bottom of the bag to reconstruct your taco! You ever hear the crunch of enticing fries on commercials, but you bite into one, that leads to two, which leads to the whole carton. The crunch...eludes you...full yet unsatisfied. Not this time! I was so excited to try the taco fries again and I wasn't disappointed. Evenly coated taco Bell taco seasoning on each fry and...I achieved some crunch. Some may have a different experience with Taco Bell. And, that maybe due to which time of the day/night you go. I've only had good experiences and I would recommend this Taco Bell to...
