Ultimately I was lied to...
I went in on Mother's day with my wife and my toddler for dinner. We had reservations, the restaurant was decently busy but got seated immediately. A few minutes in the waiter came to ask us about drinks, so I ordered 2 glasses of Pino Grigio. He immediately tells me that I should order a bottle because it will be about $6 cheaper than that. Obviously that's a no brainer so I agreed. As he walked off I said to my wife that I don't know how that's possible that a whole bottle is $6 cheaper than 2 glasses, but hey maybe it's a Mothers day special? So 45 minutes later we are still we are still waiting on our food. Our toddler at this point is getting restless so I ask how much longer it's going to be and he said they were plating the food. 10 minutes later the food comes out, my toddler is freaking out because she's hungry and the only option my wife and I have to not cause a scene is to leave the restaurant so everyone else can enjoy. We asked for the check, immediately gave the waiter my card to pay. He came back with the slip, I tipped and signed. When I got home I looked at the receipt. Yes silly me for not checking at the restaurant, but with an upset toddler we were trying to get out of there to be decent to everyone else, especially for the holiday. Looking at the receipt it says I paid $28 for the bottle of wine!!! $28!!!! He said it was going to be $6 cheaper than what I ordered! That would mean a single glass of wine is $17 if that were the case. I called the restaurant to speak to him because I was taken back. When I called the first thing I asked was how much is a single glass of wine. His response was $7. So then I asked him how was my bottle of wine $6 cheaper than me ordering 2 glasses? He said he assumed we would be ordering 4 glasses. Are you kidding me? I asked for 2, never did you asked if we would be having more than that and all you said was it would be $6 cheaper than the 2 glasses I was ordering.
You are in the service business. Don't make assumptions for people, don't lie to them. Listen to them, ask questions and build trust. You flat out lied to me.
$7 x 4 glasses =$28
At no point would this have been any cheaper even by a dollar.
This might seem small to some, but this was wrong. Very wrong. Unfortunately I will not be returning to this business and it's 1 mile...
Read moreThe parking lot needs to be repainted as most lines are barely there & people all park like they need 3ft of clearance on either side, so parking was really difficult. I booked ahead of time & we were seated after a very short wait, around 6:40pm. Didn't see any apps that caught our attention so we opted to go straight to the entrees which took a long time to come out (received between 7:20-7:25pm). No bread or anything to nibble on in the meantime which is fine, but with that long of a wait maybe you should? I mean we were asked if we needed anything while we waited but in an "order an app and spend more" kind of way. I ordered a cocktail which came out without too long of a wait and was okay. Our waitress Chantal B was fine for the first half of the evening. She came over to check on our meals not 2 minutes after they arrived, asked how they were and I responded that "well they just got here" which I guess she didn't like because she got snippy after that? Husband ordered the Braised Short Ribs---garlic mash was pretty good but he said the meat was "okay" and not what he was expecting. I ordered the Marinated Steak tips which were good but a bit salty for my liking, and while the 5 stalks of asparagus were tasty the fingerling potatoes were dry, bland, and cool in the middle. There is no salt & pepper on the table so if you want it you have to ask the waitstaff for it, which I find odd. I asked for coffee & dessert menus, when the coffee was delivered there were no spoons or stirrers and I grabbed Chantal's attention as she was checking the table next to us which is when she responded in a snippy fashion and didn't make eye contact with me after that for the remainder of the meal. We both ordered the tiramisu cheesecake for dessert which tasted neither of tiramisu nor cheesecake, and was more akin to an easter caramel egg. All you could taste was caramel, no rum, no lady fingers, no cheesecake. The portion was smaller than I expected. There aren't enough bathrooms and at any given moment for most of our meal, there was a person waiting to use the facilities. The final bill way too high for the quality of the food served. Everything was kind of "meh" so we won't...
Read moreI was in town on the weekend of June 5th for a small family/friend wedding. The groom and three of us decided that part of our pre wedding night celebration would include dinner at the Railpenney Tavern. None of us had eaten there, but heard good things. We arrived early, so we sat at the bar and had some signature cocktails. At this point you guys are a 5! Cocktails were great, and so were Nicole and Kaylee. I'm 55 years old, and have sat at many bars in my life. I must say, that these two young ladies were two of the best bartenders I've ever seen. Well done ladies! After a couple drinks, we were brought to our table, outside as requested. We ordered hors d'oeuvres, including mussels, crispy sprouts, and wings. food was good as was the service. Chantelle and Sarah were friendly, personable, and attentive. Still doing well at a 4.5. After the starters and drinks we ordered entrees. Here's were you failed miserably! Many items appealed to me, but I went with the linguini and white clam sauce. It had been a while since I had a good white clam sauce, so I went with it. Well, I guess it's going to be a while longer. First of all, the pasta was NOT linguini. It was a round curly pasta that resembled ramen noodles. They were over cooked and were stuck together in little pasta balls throughout the dish. It wasn't a very generous portion, and was served in what resembled a cereal bowl. The dish was very dry... It had no sauce. The seasoning wasn't bad, but a bit salty. The amount of clams was minimal. If I was given a blind taste test, I would think that I was served a "doctored up" ramen noodle dish! I used to be in the restaurant business, and am very particular about where I go out to eat. I never eat in chain restaurants, and am not afraid to pay well for a total culinary experience. This was very, very, very, disappointing. You comped my meal, but not my friend who got the same dish. But that doesn't really matter. We were out to celebrate a life event of a good friend, and simply wanted a quality culinary experience. You...
