A true hidden gem! This place is sneakily amazing. You walk in and see antlers and hear Willy playing on the radio and think, “Cool…country diner vibes”. Then you get to the menu and see that it is so, so much more. The dishes are grounded in classic diner fare, but their execution is gourmet level deliciousness. Their chili is next-level goodness, made with what I feel was braised steak instead of ground meat, and served with griddle toasted corn muffins. It doesn’t get any better. Or maybe it does. My wife had a poached egg in a poblano/tomato stew that was as original as it was tasty.
We cannot wait to go back and try out the 8-10 other items that had us each wondering if we should just order “one of everything.”
This is our new go-to—their menu is such a great combination of staples and innovative dishes that everyone in your party will find something to love, and you’ll never get bored.

I ordered a waffle with apple compote and was served basically a cracker. It was paper thin, crunchy, flavorless, and TINY. My friend ordered a Belgian waffle with berries and he was happy with his meal. The sage lemonade was tasty. The seats were very comfortable. The servers were friendly and I don't fault them at all for the long wait times; there was a sign at the door that said they were understaffed. Though, I'm confused about whether water was supposed to be self serve? Our drinks were never refilled. I was also shocked to see that we were overcharged for 3 items on our bill and we had to request that it be corrected. We will not...
Read moreI was super excited for a new breakfast spot in Essex. We tried it out Saturday. Sadly, this place will be a one and done for us. They don’t serve omelets so I went with the BLT. My BLT had two pieces of bacon, it was basically a tomato sandwich on soggy ultra thin bread. The other half got what he thought would be a meal, it was two sunny side up eggs along with 2 mini over cooked sausage links and a pinwheel. We ordered apricot, but 30ish minutes later when the food was ready they were out of apricot pinwheels. I had to refill my own coffee and water, I assumed the waitress would, I couldn’t tell if it was supposed to be self serve. Sara was either having a bad day or she hates her job, couldn’t tell which. So we paid the almost $40 with tip and headed to the Athen’s dinner...
