Really pretty, smells wonderful, and places to relax. I had a nice massage and used the steam room, sauna, hot tub, and pool, and it cost me around $180. They offer to pay a 22% gratuity on their services, but that is a bit steep, so I elected to pay 15%, which still gave the masseuse a $23 tip on a 50 minute massage. You can use the facilities for the day for $50 without getting a spa service but get the spa service, so nice! They offer facials, too. The showers are nice, the lounges are comfortable. I am a bigger woman, so next time, I will bring my own robe. They do give robes and shower shoes that are better than average. I am a size 20 pants, and the robe was just a tad small, but enough to make me a bit uncomfortable. It is a truly good thing to care for yourself and reset your mind into a positive place, and The Spa at Essex is a great place to do that. Enjoy! PS: I went to the tavern after massage for lunch before using the facilities. It was very good food. I had the Tavern Burger, which was yummy and unique. Onion rings were overcooked this time, so I did not eat many. Service was a little slow, but I came at the end of lunch. I would definitely go back, better than average and very reasonable prices. I also want to go to their main resteraunt. I checked out the menu, and it looks enticing. I think it opens at 5pm?They have a Tomahawk steak on their menu that I may need to share with my husband for a special occasion. Anyway, this place is now on my run away and recharge for the day list of things to do. I will be going often. I will let you know about the main resteraunt next time I go back. Maybe in a couple of weeks. Add this place to your have to go check it out for...
Read moreThis spa is very beautiful. The relaxation room with a view of the snow coming down while relaxing next to the fire was blissful. We ended up staying most of the da. Super clean and lots of great amenities. My massage by Natin, was pretty amazing. I loved the work he did on my neck and that he listened and checked in about pressure. The room did smell a little bit like rancid oils which I wasn't expecting and didn't love. One of the staff members was very attentive and caring, the staff bringing us food and drinks was absolutely amazing. Friendly and great help. The others at the front desk didnt smile and barely looked up from the computer. Would have loved to feel a little bit more welcome when arriving as opposed to annoying them with having to do their job. I also did not receive one of my services that I had added on. I also think it would be amazing if they acknowledged people new to the spa. It was my bf's first time and with little welcome or information he felt very unsure and uncomfortable about how to use the facilities. A stressful way to begin a day of relaxation. Aside from those few things mentioned above we really enjoyed our time and are looking forward to our next visit. Definitely take advantage of the space if you are staying...
Read moreCame here as a birthday gift for my girlfriend. She had a nice massage and I purchased the Day Pass to accompany her after.
Nothing negative to say about the staff, or the spa area itself. The sauna, locker room, and steam room were great. The area was also very clean and everyone was very pleasant.
The pool and hot tub area though was a different story. Leftover towels, plates of food left on tables, dead plants in pots near the hot tub, mildew, and deteriorating grout in the tiles were very sore to the eye for the price you pay. It made me wonder why the day pass is $50 if they don't bother to use that money to pay for people to help keep the area clean, especially for their hotel guests who are spending $$$ there. On the plus side the water was clean, and the hot tub was very warm.
I overall enjoyed the Spa, but in comparison to nearby spas in Quebec (which are cheaper, cleaner, and bigger) I second guess coming back here again to solely use the day pass.
The spa area (sauna, massage, rest area, steam room, locker room) I would give a 4/5.
The pool/hot tub would...
