The T.Rex theater will provide you with the best theater experience in Vermont, hands down. Extra large screen, more seating, and WAY better speakers. When I saw Tenet the entire theater was shaking with bass. This theater is the one to be at for all first night releases (Endgame, Star Wars, etc). This place holds a special place in my heart. I've been going here for years and strongly encourage others to support local movie theaters. We're lucky to still have them around during Covid...
Seating is a bit of a mess right now and the system in which they let people into the theater is a bit disorganized, but they're doing the best they can. The owner is out constantly talking with customers and doing his best to run the place. I've had good conversations with him and you can tell he really cares about the customers. They have good popcorn and in general a good variety of other foods/snacks.
I'm hoping that once restrictions ease up on businesses that Essex Cinemas can go back to their original seating plan so that it's less of a burden on customers, but then again, it's for everyone's safety.
Perhaps one of the most memorable moments I have at this theater is the opening night of Avengers Endgame. The line was out the door, people were dressed up, employees were having trivia with the customers in line and even giving out prizes. The atmosphere was so exciting. Everyone in the theater was filled with excitement. Everyone was so friendly, only minutes sitting in the theater and I was on a first name basis with so many others. People truly love coming to the movies and experiencing the first watch with others. This is a theater than you can come to and cry and others won't judge you because funny enough, they're crying harder than you! This isn't just a movie theater, it's a place to create memories and friends.
Please, go out to the movies, support this amazing theater. You will...
Read moreTonight, my wife and I visited Essex Cinemas for the first time to catch Gladiator 2 during the 7:30 pm showing as part of their $5 Movie Monday. This theater, which is reputed to be the best in Essex, lived up to the praise in many ways, offering a memorable and enjoyable evening.
Let me start with the movie itself. Gladiator 2 is an absolute cinematic treat. Without giving away any spoilers, the film masterfully weaves together breathtaking visuals, compelling performances, and a gripping storyline that kept us on the edge of our seats. It's a must-watch for fans of historical dramas and epic tales.
As for the theater, we were in one of their largest screening rooms, which enhanced the immersive experience. The seats were comfortable, though slightly worn out, but this was a minor detail that didn’t detract from the overall comfort of the space. The sound and screen quality were top-notch, making every moment of the movie an auditory and visual delight.
To complete the experience, my wife and I shared a medium-sized popcorn, some nachos, and two hot chocolates, which were a cozy treat on a chilly evening. The concessions were fresh, and the staff was friendly and attentive.
Essex Cinemas truly offers great value, especially with their $5 Movie Monday deal. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and are already looking forward to returning for another movie night. If you’re in the Essex area and looking for a quality theater experience, this is the...
Read moreI have been going to this establishment since I was 6 years old, it is usually a clean, friendly, and welcoming environment with great staff and movies. I would give it 5 stars because of this. However, my last experience there was not pleasant because of a certain staff member. He was working the concession stand and was utterly rude to me and my friends. I was ordering for my friends (as one was trying to figure out how to pull up tickets and the other has social anxiety) and accidentally ordered all of our snacks together. After I realized I had made a mistake I politely asked him to please separate our orders so we could each pay separately. Please note that this man had been extremely rude and spoke in a robotic voice and rolled his eyes at me several times. He then proceeded to scold me as I was his child and tell me that “ I should have put them all separately.” I don’t know if he was just having a bad day or it was because me and my friends are teenagers, but it was flustering and really not okay. I have noticed over the years, especially after covid, the quality of staff had gone down a bit, this definitely sealed the deal for me.
I don’t specifically Remeber this persons name, but he did have very bright red/ orange hair that was a bit curly but short. Essex Cinemas, please address this problem, I don’t want to be forced to go...
