Went here around 7:30pm on a Thursday for a party of 2 without reservations. They were great, seated us promptly, our waiter Julian was very friendly and informative. The drinks were well done, we had a Bees Knees and Garden Gnome to start, and a Painkiller to finish the night. For food everything is served meant to be shared for the most part.
For starters we had the Chicken Liver Terrine and Bone Marrow, both very tasty, thought the bone Marrow portine could have been a little bigger, Bone was shallower than expected. We asked for more bread for the Terrine and they kindly provide more.
For our mains we had the Pistachio Pesto Pizza, and Roasted Duck Cannelloni. The pizza was nice, if you like Spanish green olives 🫒 this will be your jam.. the Canelloni was good, the there could have been a bit more bechemal sauce on top, but overall the flavors mixed well.
For dessert we had something light. I forget the name of it, but basically it was an frozen icee kiwi layer covered in a coconut gellee, with a raspberry sauce. Never had anything like it before, very nice combination of flavors and contrasting textures, all while being very light.
For the amount of items order, the service, and atmosphere the overall cost was good. It was nice to find another medium to higher scale restaurant in Essex as an option, definitely will be back again for date nights with the spouse...
Read moreIt's been a while since we've tried a new restaurant and been so delighted! First off, the staff and service was wonderful from the moment we stepped in the door. Our server was incredibly attentive, enthusiastic and thoughtful. The space is very inviting - comfortable, but classy without feeling at all fussy. The quality of the tables and chairs was noted along with the little extra touches, like the dinner and glassware.
The food was delicious. Every dish was better than my expectations. The kale salad was so delicious (Kale? I know, but it really, really is that good) we ordered another mid meal. The only thing I can say even came close to bringing the slightest disappointment was that for the price, the bone marrow was extremely shallow. It was absolutely delicious, but I would have felt it was lean if I wasn't sharing it at all, again, a minor disappointment. The biscuits were very tasty but I would not order again for the high price. In contrast, I was surprised by the fair price for oysters and enjoyed the bloody Mary granita they were paired with immensely.
This is an ideal dish sharing experience. The quality of the food, atmosphere, and service will definitely see my return to do exactly that - there was nothing on the menu I didn't want to try! Great job, Bramble team, thank you for an...
Read moreI'm coming into this review hot. I can't help it. We went early on Friday night with high expectations we always go into places with and are rarely met. Bramble met, exceeded, met again and then some. We started with the roasted bone marrow and the duck rillette. The bone marrow alone will cause divorces over who gets the last bite.... something to keep in mind. Go by yourself and order 2 of them, it's truly the only way to keep the peace. Shawn, the owner, was a doll and we enjoyed watching him go table to table, talking with his guests. His smile and laugh alone are the reasons you need to get a reservation ASAP. Being the pizza snobs we are we weren't holding out too much hope for the pizza. We ordered the Mozz-gatta (???) Cant remember the exact name so just go for the one with spicy sausage and Calabrian chilis. I'll take your thank yous. After one bite the negotiations and laying claim to future pieces started immediately. Perfect size, crust and the heat level was on par. Drinks were great and wine pours enough to make you smile. A lot. We know a place is a keeper if we are trying to figure out when we can go back before we are even finished dinner..... No I'm not affiliated with this place at all, Bramble is just that good that you will take 5 minutes out of your day to rave about...
