Woods Family Diner — Restaurant in Etowah

We stopped here while traveling through. The smoker was going and it looked very inviting. The restaurant was busy but we found a table and were greeted pretty quickly. Atmosphere was simple and unpretentious, and very clean, including the restrooms. I ordered the smoked meatloaf (only available on certain days) and my wife asked for a western quesadilla (with pulled pork) without jalapenos but added coleslaw (made it a Carolina pulled pork quesadilla!). Ordered sandwiches and the daily special, country fried stake. The cafe was out of most sides so we ordered potato salad with the country fried stake. It looked like grocery store bought and tasted worse. The sandwiches were okay. We ordered a milkshake, and overheard the counter staff say they were out of chocolate ice cream as they were making it. What arrived was a very thin shake were they may have used chocolate milk to flavor the vanilla. The country fried stake was very dry and tough. Our 1st time here. Have never noticed this place. I live in Cleveland and we were just driving through. Everything was very good, clean, and the employees were very nice and helpful. My husband got the BBQ, yummy! I got a hamburger and it was freshly pattied and thick. The seasoned fries were perfect. And then I spotted the homemade fudge rounds and other desert. The fudge round was sooo good. We will definitely be back and happy to find this...
