I bring my wife to try what appears to be an amazing spot. I walk in, met with 2 teenagers at a tablet speaking with one another. One of them holding a handful of cash. They appear to be trying to fix a computer. I stand there for 3 minutes before I obviously turn my head back and forth waiting to even be spoken to.
Once I do this twice, another teenager comes up to sit us and tries to speak to the other teenagers, who do not even look up to acknowledge her. After 6 literal minutes standing there (and I should have left), we are sit underneath a speaker that is SCREAMING older Italian opera music, so annoying that my ears are ringing. We sit at this table for another few minutes as we both stare at the menu. No one asked us about drinks, no one asked us about anything, just left us there with a menu while the same kids are up front playing on a tablet.
After looking at the menu and seeing a lunch meal for 12+ and 15+ dollars and waiting additional time, my wife and I got up and left. I never got to even try the food. Honestly, if you’re gonna charge 15-30$ a plate, there’s an EXPECTATION of service. This was fast food (if not below) level service with meals priced at this point. We loved E’s and went all the time, but this place really needs some work if it’s going...
Read moreMy husband and I were visiting from the East Coast and were excited to see Cucina Italiana al Lago in Eufaula. My favorite is the tried and true Chicken Piccata - they use garlic slices and the larger caperberries in the sauce for an excellent result. The chicken in the dish was perfectly prepared, plus a large serving size. (Most dishes require a takeout container due to the portion sizes!) Their pasta flavors are subtle and consistent, not heavily salted or overly spiced for the typical American palette. Their meats are well prepared - never dry or tough, breads are soft and delicate, and their pizzas are perfectly sized and delicious. If you do like spicy, you can request they make a spicy diablo version of their red sauce as well. They offer several excellent desert choices, including our favorite, tiramisu. Prices are very good, and service is exceptional. BYOB wines for now. The planned addition of a full-service bar will soon make this restaurant complete. Cucina Italiana is a welcome addition to the menu offerings...
Read moreFirst timer - the food was outstanding. At first I was drawn to try the tortellini, then I saw the spaghetti works and knew that was what I should try for my first time here. I ordered the lunch portion and holy cow Batman, it was enough for another meal. Thinly sliced Italian sausage, to meatballs, homemade sauce and spaghetti cooked perfectly Al dente. It came with a salad and I ordered the Caesar. They also brought fresh made garlic bread out. I had the half n half tea and it was perfect. Finished the meal off with the tiramisu and limoncello cake. Hands down the BEST desserts I’ve had in a long time. Perfect amount of sweetness and left you wanting more. The service was phenomenal, atmosphere was inviting and perfect ambiance. It was nice being able to talk to the owners wife. 12/10 for my experience. I will be going back and making this one of my top picks for places to dine out in Eufala....
