We recently went back to Terry's after a long time staying away because the food went down and service was bad. We went back last week and the service was great and the food was good again. Thier portions have gone down and the prices have gone up, understandable since inflation and restaurants have been hit hard with cost. My husband always asks for a tiny side of mayo with his burger to add as needed to his burger. I asked for a blue cheese and ranch to mix them into my salad. When my salad came the portion size of the dressings had gone down to a 2 oz. portion and the 2 together still didn't wet all my salad completely. I really liked the salad but it was not as much dressing as I wanted. When we got the bill the server charged $1.50 for one of my dressings. So we went back this week and had the same items as before, I brought my own ranch dressing so we wouldn't be charged again and only asked for a blue cheese this time,my husband got his mayo as always. The food was great again but when the bill came we were charged another fee of $1.50, so I approached the server and asked if the salad didn't come with dressing. She said it was the small side of mayo. So, the last fee was for the side of mayo. My complaint is, if a customer asked for extra mayo for thier burger and there's an add on fee, this should be disclosed to the customer. Things are tight for everyone including the restaurant, but when the price went up from average $10 dollars for a burger and fries to almost $15, the extra mayo should be included in my book, or disclosed that getting extra mayo on the side will bring you meal up and extra $1.50. I know this sounds petty but when the meals have gone up, that means tge tip has gone up. So when you are spending not around a 30 percent higher price than in the past, your are adding a higher tip. That extra $1.50 really bummed us out because I had budgeted enough for the meal, and to tip over 20%. I ended up tipping 20 percent but this extra add on for a expensive cheese burger was off-putting. We will not...
Read moreWhen you walk in to Terry's Diner, you are immediately drawn to the antiques that hang from walls, sit on tables and hang upside down from the ceiling. The decor gives guests a chance to view memorabilia while waiting for food.
The food at Terry's Diner is reminiscent of an old diner. Portions are large and for the most part, the food is good. A recommendation would be to create food from scratch instead of so many frozen items. The meal would taste better and it is cheaper in the long run.
Terry's is a good place to eat, although there seems to be a difference in the dish depending on who is working as chef for that time. I have tasted wonderful entrees one day, come back another day and order the same entree, but it is not cooked as well.
The ambiance of Terry's is very "Eugene". It's a laid-back atmosphere. The staff is friendly. Prices are reasonable.
On a first visit, the antiques do stand out, however, once you begin to look around, the seats are cracked and some are torn. The carpet is old and could be cleaned better. I believe the furniture may just be old enough to look dirty after so many years of use because the overall cleanliness of the place is good.
Overall, I would recommend a trip to Terry's Diner. The onion rings are typically something I would tell others about, yet the last time I ate there they were a bit greasy. The milkshakes are crafted in an old-fashioned manner, in the tall metal containers that are so large they pour half in a glass and serve the remaining shake in the container.
Everyone should try Terry's...
Read moreYou know In today's day and age I feel people are way to picky in reviewing places And service . But this time I feel that a critical viewpoint might be good here. Walk in to a surprisingly slow dining room. Great stuff to look at in the dinning room. First we hear a server singing at the top of her lungs (very well I might add) to an older song on the radio as she wiped off a table from the last people that had gotten up. We were greeted and shown to a table. 10 minutes 2 servers and who I guess was a manager walk by not saying anything or offering drinks to our table. Eventually we get the same server that has walked pass us 3 x with 0 eye contact to take our order. The young ladies were more interested in taking care of the 2 regulars walking in then the guest at hand. Also to add to this point a table of 3 ladies had to ask to cash out a couple of times before another server entirely ran the card. Unfortunately for us the food was amazing and served hot but the service was way lacking in quality and integrity. Focus is important to each guest that walks in the doors. Not just...
