Clean plates say it all! And I'm not ashamed to say we enjoyed appetizers and dessert too. We started with the Mushroom Cobbler which was the main draw for us and it did not disappoint in the slightest. Obviously we were expecting something savory but this was just magic. We also did the Study of Wild Mushrooms and though they didn't compare the cobbler, they were still quite good. For entrees my boyfriend had the Fettina Steak and I went with the Polenta Lasagna. I was somewhat disappointed that the menu had changed from what I saw online and the dish I wanted was no longer available (the rockfish sounded amazing) but both entrees were great. The potatoes au gratin that came with the steak were a showstopper. I don't think I've ever seen my fella dive into a dish containing dairy with such reckless abandon and I'm happy to say neither of us regretted it. That tells me this place uses top quality ingredients because the cheap stuff gives him the bloats. For dessert we did the seasonal ice cream (cabernet flavor) and cookies with a single Irish Cream truffle. The ice cream was perfection and I'd be in trouble if it was available by the pint. The only criticism I have, and it's not really, is that this place is pretty small. We were very fortunate that we arrived shortly after they opened and they had a table available. However, I will say that the size seemed like the perfect balance between kitchen staff and patrons. Nobody waited long for their food and it was a room full of smiles. Reservations recommended.

We were just passing through and thought we had a reservation. I’d left a voicemail but never got a call back, so we assumed we were good to go. When we arrived, my wife was told that if no one confirmed, then there wasn’t actually a reservation. That’s when I went in and met Darlene (pretty sure she’s the manager)—and she was incredible. She found us two spots at the bar, and honestly, they were probably the best seats in the whole place which we call the “Chef’s table”. We had a perfect view of the kitchen and got to watch the team craft these amazing dishes right in front of us. It felt like dinner and a show. They started us off with a mushroom cobbler appetizer that was absolutely next-level. Then we had brick oven pizza that was out of this world. On top of that, the service was full of joy and good energy—it just felt like everyone genuinely loved being there. The whole spot has this cozy, neighborhood vibe that makes you feel like you’ve been coming there for years, even if it’s your first time. We left so happy and are already planning to come back with our boys (and yes—we’ll definitely make a reservation next time!). Big thanks to Darlene and the whole crew. This place is a total gem. Don’t miss it!

I’ll post this for two places: Brick & Fire and 2 Doors Down Reservation: I would recommend calling before your visit, just to make sure you got a table for you and your family/friends. The restaurant is not huge but cozy and nice for quality time. Reservation was easy and they are very responsive to phone calls. The website I hope they improve it in the future. Food: we are Vegetarian-Pescatarian so we do not no have meat experience. The food was fine, we enjoyed the variety of flavors we got, and I would say this is a mixed cuisine - Italian, Spanish or Mediterranean. I would describe it as Tuscan cuisine but this is only my interpretation from the food presentation. One dish we did not like was the Wild Mushroom Cobbler - was not really what we expected. Did not like it so much, juts personal taste. For drinks, they had nonalcoholic beverages so we got the house made ginger ale and black cherry soda. The ginger ale had a flat flavor in my opinion for a ginger ale. The restaurant was fully booked for the hour we wanted to visit so we were seated at their 2 Doors Down as they are an extension of each other. (For the service and ambiance I’ll post at the 2 Doors Down)

Brick & Fire Bistro in Eureka is one of those restaurants that truly shows off the best of what Humboldt County dining can be. From the moment you walk in, you feel the warmth of the space. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable but with an elegance that makes it perfect for a special night out. The brick oven is at the heart of the restaurant, and you can smell the wood fire the moment you step inside. That scent alone sets the tone for a meal that feels both rustic and refined.

The food at Brick & Fire is outstanding and made with a focus on fresh, local ingredients. The menu changes with the seasons, which means every time you visit you get something new to look forward to. The wood fired pizzas are unforgettable, with thin, crisp crusts and toppings that are thoughtfully paired. Beyond pizza, the entrees shine just as brightly. Dishes like fresh fish, tender steak, or roasted chicken come out with deep, layered flavors and beautiful presentation. Even the starters and salads feel special, with combinations that highlight the quality of local produce.

One of the things I love most about Brick & Fire is the attention to detail. Everything is prepared with care, and it shows in the flavor of each dish. The portions are generous without ever sacrificing quality, and every plate feels like it was designed to make the most of the ingredients. The bread, often baked in house, is incredible on its own and even better paired with their soups and salads.

The drinks are another strength. The wine list is carefully chosen, with options that pair perfectly with the menu, and the cocktails are balanced and creative. Whether you are a wine lover or someone who just wants a well made drink with dinner, you will not be disappointed.

Service at Brick & Fire is consistently top notch. The staff are friendly, professional, and always ready with recommendations. They take the time to explain the menu, suggest wine pairings, and make sure you feel taken care of. It makes the entire dining experience smooth and enjoyable from start to finish.

For me, Brick & Fire Bistro is more than just a restaurant in Eureka. It is a place where you can relax, enjoy the atmosphere, and savor food that feels both local and world class at the same time. It has that rare combination of comfort and sophistication that makes you want to come back again and again. Every visit leaves me impressed and grateful that a place like this exists right here in...

I really liked the Lasagna from tasting it in the past and despite my reluctance to ordering an entree with no meat I was probably going to order it. That was until I saw a pork dish on the menu for the daily meat option. I forget what they called it but it was a rack of pork with polenta and some kind of cherry sauce. I think it mentioned it was cooked in milk or something too. Had some weirdness in there but I went for it. The description for this thing was a solid paragraph of flavors and sauces and ingredients. I was expecting a thanksgiving buffet plate of different things but when it arrived it was just a hunk of pork with some dark colored sauce and a bone sticking out next to a glob of polenta floating in some light brown sauce. Initially I was kind of disappointed because of how basic it looked compared to how complicated it was in the menu but once I started eating it I was blown away. Oh my god the flavors. Everything melded together perfectly. The polenta, the mystery sauces on point! The pork was a little dry in parts but it ended up being just right with the sauce. I all but licked the plate clean and ate the bone. I also made sure to help my friend eat her Polenta Lasagna.

Bam, 4 stars. Yes, my dinner was amazeballs (this time) and the Lasagna was still unbelievable but Brick and Fire Bistro is not perfect. It's still a small and crowded restaurant. They can't accommodate large reservations. It can get really loud in there and it's also pretty expensive. Above all for me though is that the menu is still 93% off limits to my particular palate sensibilities. It's a nice fancy place in Eureka for special occasions.

Further criticisms would be that I would like to be able to order a small side of polenta lasagna because I love it, but not enough to get a whole entree of it. I don't know if this is possible but I would probably add it every time. I would also like to be able to order the forementioned pork dish every time I come here. Lastly, the dessert of my review... I appreciate the Creme Brulee flavor Du Jour but I would like the option of just a regular plain...

Well executed new American cuisine (rustic Italian inspired but not that seriously). Has a short menu that changes a bit weekly and seasonally, which allows them to put a lot of thought and care into each item. For example, this week's perfectly smooth espresso ice cream with salted caramel was served with a cookie (maybe a shortbread wafer with a flattened mixed nut streusel topping--concept new to me) that was not sweet balanced out the sweetness of the strawberries and caramel (all made in-house!). Kobe beef steak was great, served with a coarsely mashed au gratin potato ramekin that had some al dente texture which demonstrates the attention to detail and careful execution even in the potatoes. The mixed salad toppings of radish, blueberries, beets, red onion, goat cheese (awesome roasted medallions!), and walnuts--seemed like a pairing misstep to me, so I ate it in chunks I enjoyed. If I lived here, I think I'd hope to keep it a secret, but I came on a Thursday evening and there were still a couple of tables open and while I'm sure they handle Fridays great, I'll bet the relaxed vibe of a weeknight is the best way to savor your dinner here. On-tap Altbier by Redwood Curtain was excellent too. Portion sizes are satisfying and the entrees are full plates so salad/appetizers aren't necessary, so the modest pricing feels like excellent value and those of us with actual appetites don't need to fear getting a single piece of protein merely size of a silver dollar arranged to look gorgeous but not really a dinner--this is excellent filling dinner. Highly...
