All around great experience. I've been thinking about how I want to describe my stay in Eureka through a few Google reviews (something I would normally never do if not for the awful service /experience we had at the motel-Clarion where we stayed) I was shown such a wide range of quality of treatment from the restaurants, stores and places to stay that Paul's really stuck out as genuine and considerate. It made the rest of my stay seem so much worse by comparison. Employees were so polite, but not over the top.. Just like it came easily to them. Like you would talk to a good friend. Pizza is top notch--especially considering we're in Northern California. I ordered the Manhatten (pesto, chicken artichokes, sun dried 'maters I think 🤔) they made me a margharite Instead. Honestly they could have just given me the pizza and I probably would have never noticed I was pretty stoned and we're in a pandemic! I'm not I just gonna open my box. You guys were upfront about the mix up. They were apologetic.. Offered me store credit and the pizza for free. I asked if they couldn't just give me some slices to make up another pie since the one I got was meatless, and they were more than cool about it. Gave me the other pie for free oh, I think I paid for the original pie gotcha. Not totally sure. But super happy with the results. Next time I'm back through this way I'll definitely try the Manhattan. Thanks for keeping it real guys! But seriously, don't stay at the clarion. I thought - as a choice diamond member that it would be the nicer of the 2 options for pet friendly motels. It was way worse. See my review on them too. Paul's rocked...
Read moreToday I called in for a gluten free pizza... The lady on the phone told me thirty minutes... Great! I had time to run a few errands and pick up my pizza. I got there and had to order a few slices for my family members (called in the gf pizza so that it would be done when I got there) it was the dinner rush I came in about 6 o clock there was only 4 pizzas maybe 6 but four specialty pizzas to choose from. Usually there's more options but okay it was a busy night and they had two party's! My family members slices were done and ready to go in about 5-10 min they handed me my items and I asked where is my gluten free pizza? She told me oh yeah hold on it will be just a few more minutes. I wait about five more minutes and then go back up again to check on it. She then told me it was just now being prepared to put in the oven it has been about 30 min from the time I made the phone call. I told them never mind I want my money back I will not be eating here tonight. They all had terrible Customer Service! Everyone behind the counter didn't have a good attitude I wouldn't have minded waiting if they weren't so rude! We told her that we have heard about the terrible customer service on google and Yelp and what not and maybe they should think about that. She said "I know the owners aren't happy about it" she gave us our money back and preceded to tell us that she hopes we have a better experience at there arcata location. I think the owners need new employees with better attitudes, this place has great food but...
Read moreBorn in New York my childhood memories are filled with going to Brooklyn pizza places that smell like baking pizza dough and the unconditional love of my Grandparents. Every time I walk in the door to this place in Eureka or the one in Arcata, its like a time travelling teleporter, I am immediately transported to New York in the 80's. I always judge a pizza place on the quality of a plain cheese pizza and this place does it so well, with a beautiful thin crust of just the right thickness and texture that supports a tangy and sweet sauce spread at just the perfect amount over which lays satisfying layer of perfectly cooked cheese which has just begun to release its grease. Balanced and decadent at the same time it embodies everything pizza should. In addition some of their original creations are no less than culinary genius. The Sunset is my current favorite. It captures the controversy of a traditional Hawaiian pizza while the concentrated umami of the sundried tomatoes makes the pizza taste like a pizza flavored pizza and more pizzaey than any pizza has any right to be. My only hope would be that they improve the fried eggplant special, and extend it to both locations. When done correctly with thinner larger (its all about that surface area) crispy fried slices it combines all the best qualities of eggplant parmesan and pizza and is one of my favorite flavors. Paul's is one of my favorite pizza places...
