Update on Hacienda. I know I said at the end of the first review that we would not be back, but we went back and much to our chagrin. Although I ordered what seemed to be a new item on the menu a Quesoburria. It is 3 small street taco shells fried like a Quesadilla with shredded beef and cheese. There was not a lot of either in any of the 3 shells, but it was very good. It comes with dipping sauce and it was very tasty. I don't know how to describe it. My wife ordered a fish taco which was disgraceful. There was no more than a tablespoon of fish, not exaggerating, that they smashed and tried to spread the length of the taco shell, and they didn't quite make it. It was really Embarrassing for them. They then proceeded to fill the shell up with lettuce and some cheese. We have indeed gone to Hacienda for the last time. They did however let us sample some new salsas that they have out, instead of the, what I call, Mexican ketchup that they've used for 40 years, they had a chunky salsa and a green spicy hot salsa, both were very good. End of update. My wife and I started going to Hacienda on 1st. Ave some 40 years ago. This was before there was a Mexican restaurant on every corner, but it was our favorite. Back then, of course, things didn't cost nearly as much and we would get out of there, eating full meals, for $10. We ate there last night for the first time in several years and the place is looking its age, and it cost us, with tip, $32. Again, I know that things cost more today than they did 40 years ago, but for what we got, it was not worth $32. Our two soft drinks were nearly $6. That's the price of 5 liters of Pepsi in the store. I guess we have probably gone to Hacienda on 1st Avenue for the last time, makes me sad.

Amazing service. Our waitress was super nice. Since it was our first time there, we got some complimentary dips for trying, and a free appetizer or dessert. Now the rough part. Nothing about the food was Mexican other than the names. It did somewhat look like Mexican food. I ordered fish tacos, and it was literally imitation crab meat. Now I like crab meat, even imitation crab meat, but when I order fish, I don't want crab meat. Wife's got a wet burrito, and the meat tasted like sloppy Joe's. Again not terrible, but also not Mexican. Salsa was at best, meh. If you can handle a little kick, get the green salsa. It was really good. I wish this place the best because all the servers were super nice. Just not the best food. Gave it 3 stars just because of their service, and the green salsa.

Looking for some good Mexican food for lunch? I was, this is the wrong place. Chips were hard, salsa had no flavor at all, it was like cocktail sauce. Pretty sure it was the worst salsa I have ever had at a Mexican restaurant, and I've been to many. My son got the Buffalo chicken tacos by our servers suggestion. He loved them. I got the lunch pork chimichanga. It was pretty good but it was literally the smallest chimichanga I've ever seen. I know it's off the lunch menu but come on. I will say that our server was prompt, friendly and attentive. They also had a bean art table which you could do if you chose to, we did not, but this was really neat. For the portion sizes and the price (almost $30 for 2 for lunch) we will not be returning here nor would I recommend.

Great food! Wow!

Table chips & salsa started us out. Chips light & crispy, salsa really good. Ordered some guacamole and it was creamy with some chopped onions, etc in it. Really good. We didn't order the tables idea guacamole, but I have no doubt it would be amazing.

I had the Food Truck Tacos which is one each of grilled skirt steak, grilled chicken breast, and pulled pork. Each was delicious! The pineapple salsa was good. Only problem was there wasn't enough! 😉 Their avocado ranch dressing is so tasty! It also comes with chili pineapple sauce and Korean barbecue sauce on the side. I don't know which was which between those two, but they were great. One, though, was super spicy and totally delicious!

BF got the Famous Wet Burrito. The waitress asked if he wanted the smaller one or the regular sized one. He chose the regular size. Kids, it's gigantic!!! I hope you're hungry if you order it because dang! It takes up a whole platter. Not plate. Platter. And it's very very good.

We got Carmelo Cream Straws for dessert. Just one bite was awfully tasty. (I sprinkled some True Lemon on top and it gave the cream cheese filling and the whipped cream just the right amount of lemony tartness to go with the cream cheese (cheesecake-y) filling. Very good dessert.

The service was quick and pretty friendly. Would definitely...

Walked in and every worker i seen was like 16-20 year old white kids. When i want some good mexican food i wanna see some mexicans in the place. May seem racist but seriously nobody can make authentic mexican food like authentic mexicans. But im not judging the place on that. It was just awkward. The bigger problem was that these mexican restaurants seat you and bring you chips and their signature salsa. Im pretty sure they brought us chips and bowls of ketchup. Im not sure what the hell it was. It looked and tasted like canned tomato sauce with a few seeds in it! No onion no cilantro no cumin no flavor! So as we sat laughing about our chips and ketchup and discussing walking out of there, we observed 2 young men come in and walk in to the kitchen. They were not wearing uniforms like the workers in this establishment. In fact one was wearing pajama pants and the other was wearing a disgusting dirty coat covered in grease or motor oil or coal dust. Im really not sure but just knew i didnt want any of that where my food was being prepared. Im pretty sure thats some type of health code violation. Sorry i cant review any of their food other than chips and ketchup. We had seen enough and walked...
