We thought the reviews noted on various platforms would lead us to having a great evening - I could not have been more wrong. It was one of the worst restaurant experiences we have had in a long time. My parents and brother from out of town were visiting and I had to apologize to them after the meal.
In short: It took more than 20 minutes to get a basket of bread on the table after being seated We had to flag down the waiter to order drinks, and to come over to place the meal order The waiter was kind and joked with the kids, but was not attentive After ordering we had 6 out of 7 meals put on the table and it took TWENTY ADDITIONAL MINUTES for my brother to get his food. By the time he was served, the majority of the table was done with their meal Poor brother - they forgot his soup when appetizers and salads were served and we were not able to hunt down the server to tell him, while we were in food purgatory, waiting for our main course When we mentioned to the woman cleaning up the dishes (server was gone with the wind), she offered to package the soup to go but there was no offer to discount the meal. Additionally, I was given a look like, "What the heck - you already ate so why do you want soup" The "special" fish was absolutely horrible. It was obviously frozen and had a very distinct bleach flavor. Both my wife and I ordered it, and we gave each other a "OMG this is bad" look when taking the first bite. We had waited so long for the meal that we simply ate around the main course. To make a comment would have kept us at the place until the next morning's breakfast we were served so slowly!
I don't normally convey negative sentiment and try to focus on the good, but this was atrocious. Only because my mom and dad and brother traveled a long distance to spend Mother's day weekend with us did I not raise the issue with the manager/owner. Sorry to say that this was a very bad experience. It's a shame too because the place is less than a...
Read moreFirst time coming here on Thursday at 6:30. Busy but not packed. Parking seems like it would be pretty limited on a Friday or weekend.
Staff was super friendly and attentive. Restaunt was clean and had nice decor. The tables weren't cramped together.
They give you a basket of warm bread and a healthy amount of whipped butter for the table. Simple and delicious. I got 2 cocktails, the Smoker's club and First pick. Both were absolutely delicious and boozy. Definitely can tell they used fresh ingredients and their cocktails weren't too sweet. Smoker's club was awesome. First pick reminded me of the holidays, it was refreshing and awesome.
For an app we ordered the clams casino. They're tiny but fresh and delicious. No grit.
I ordered the filet that was on their specials menu. 8oz filet that comes with broccoli rabe and potato wedges. The broccoli rabe seemed like an afterthought. No seasoning and super bitter. I can't say I've ever gotten good brocolli rabe anywhere. I think they'd be better off offering green beans or asparagus. The filet I ordered medium rare and it was cooked a little more on the rare side but the texture and flavor were fabulous. So tender and the really let the beef flavor shine through. The potato wedges were super crispy and seasoned well. Really enjoyed them.
The entree also comes with a salad and small side of pasta. I opted for Caesar salad which was good but could use more seasoning. Feels like it was missing anchovy paste or worcestershire.
The pasta side was okay. Really basic marinara over penne.
For dessert I got the arctic chocolate ice cream which was delicious. I think for an Italian place they should make their own pasta. Only the gnocchi is house-made which is why I opted for the steak instead. Maybe will give their pasta a try next time around.
Food came out at a good pace. Can't recommend the cocktails enough. Will...
Read moreI've worked in the service industry -- and many of my dearest friends have done so as well. So it's not often I go out of my way to write a review like this. Marsillio's Kitchen in Ewing, NJ and its staff is probably the most insensitive, unprofessional, and disrespectful establishment I have ever visited. Many of you know wife has Celiac disease - a condition that damages the lining of the small intestine and prevents it from absorbing parts of food that are important for staying healthy.
Her office holiday party was held at this location because they "supposedly" catered to gluten-free dietary restrictions. However, instead of accommodating (or simply explaining that they cannot cater to her dietary needs) the waiter was rude, pretentious, insensitive, and downright insulting. He questioned her every request and outwardly expressed his frustration throughout the meal -- publicly and unabashedly. When she asked about preparation, she was met with resistance. When she declined food, she was ridiculed.
Their attitude was downright discriminatory. Not only would I never recommend this location to anyone I know -- but, I am going out of my way to make sure people avoid this place. If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies avoid this location... unless you're looking for a place that doesn't mind making you ill or perhaps even putting you into anaphylactic shock. Your waiter might just tell you that you're...
