I ordered a large breakfast and I do this because I love to eat grits with everything mixed together. Itโs apparent that the kitchen boy doesnโt know the first thing about making grits. I will not eat clumps in my grits and nobody should even attempt to eat poorly prepared grits. I let the waitress know and she said something to the kitchen boy who made the grits. The kitchen boy decided to approach the table and instead of saying he will fix it, he told me that he stirred the pot for 20 minutes and he knows how to make grits. Well itโs not how long you stir and anyone who knows how to make grits knows exactly what Iโm talking about. The kitchen boy was passive aggressive and had a violent energy in his physical presence in the stare of his eye contact and in his energy. I will definitely not go back to a hostile environment where Iโm paying for violent behavior. I felt like I was strong armed into paying for the food I did not eat. I am a local business owner and I would never have a low iq person working for me that approached my customers in this manner. He would have been fired immediately in front of that customer. The owner let me know that it was her brother in law and told me she let him know not to do that. I had to pay for something I didnโt eat and I was told by the owner that I could come back and have a free meal. I declined because I do not want someone like him anywhere near me. Itโs so bad nowadays that the help can get away with this kind of behavior. Good help is really hard to find. I hope the owner can hire someone with some common sense and self control so she doesnโt lose...
ย ย ย Read moreHad an ok experience. Recently moved to the area six months ago, had this on my list of places to try and gave it a go. Today, we came in and sat for a few minutes, had to ask for some menus. Waitress said she was the only one there however there were two others there working in the dining room/kitchen. We got our order in and food came out within about 10 minutes. I had ordered the meatloaf with potato salad and fried okra, when my food came the okra did not come and waitress said she forgot to order it and brought it out a few min later. What I assume was the owner came out shortly after and asked me how the potato salad was i said ok; (worst potato salad I've ever had) I said it was a little underdone and she said "yea, I knew I didn't cook it long enough". The meatloaf was good, has a spicy kick to it and so was the okra. My companion ordered the Clovis burger with raw onions, had to ask for the onions as they didn't come out with the burger. Companion didn't like it, said it had a strange taste. I tried it and noticed it tasted like my meatloaf having a spicy zing to it. Very strange they make a hamburger using the same meat as the meatloaf. Our waitress was very friendly with the table next to us, making small talk and servicing them very well, I had to speak up and ask for my check as she was walking away from them even after she saw I was visibly done with my meal and took my plate. All in all this was an ok meal, nothing special and likely...
ย ย ย Read more๐๐๐๐๐5 star UPDATE: As promised, we returned. Complete 180 on everything; food was great, service was stellar, overall great experience! Thank you Clovis! I be will be back, and as it stands after this visit by me and a friend, (who was with me the first time), we would both recommend Clovis Cafe. New pictures are added including the Pork Chop Philly and the Chicken Fried Steak with sides. The tomatoes are fresh and delicious.
As a reviewer, I hate to do this. I realize they just opened but this was as horrible an experience as I have ever had. We sat for 30 (real time) minutes with no acknowledgement from staff, other than someone brought us some swamp stew. We never got menus, drink order or anything. Not even a look. They all looked truly confused. I will be back because Iโm not a one and done guy. I will give them another chance but they need to get on track quick. We finally left and not an eye was batted. Swamp...
