We visited tonight, and it wasn't great, it wasn't good, it was AMAZING. I've somehow neved tried portuguese before, and ws were kind of burned out on pizza and chinese food, so we decided it would be good to try something at a place new to us.
We ordered over the phone, sandwiches and dinners and sides for all of us to try a little of everything, and man, did they get it as right as it gets.
We walked in to pick up the order and saw that it was very clean inside. Not like it had been recently cleaned, but that fhey always keep it clean. They have enough seating in a xouple areas, looks like they would be able to host a large group of guests. They had food in the steam trays, and the young man behind the counter greated us as soon as we stepped inside. It didn't feel forced like a company policy to use the official greating, but more like some just genuinely was a welcoming person.
We told him ww were thsre for our order and it was hot, ready, and waiting for us. Being food curious I asked a bunch of questions about what the different trays held. He enthustiasically walked me through it all, and friendly the whole time, and actually SMILING! We added a couple extra items that looked great. Now, I don't speak portuguese, and my memory of the food names isn't great, but (I'll try to remember here) we had a chorci and pepper sandwich, a pulled pork sandwich, a chicken mozambique sandwich, I think a cacoila sandwich, a kale soup, some cod cake balls, and some fries, a sweet rice, a flan, and when we got there we added a farva bean side, and the best thing of all, the sauce. Tomatos, onions, and some spices. Had just the smallest amount of heat from the spice. I've always loved hot food, and it barely registered in my mouth, but oh my god, the flavor! Thank you to the kind worker for giving us a sample in the store. The sauce alone would have been good enough to get the hooks in me to drag me back, but all of it together?! I believe with a place so clean, friendly, with helpfull staff and such rich and flavorful food is the kind of place that has earned all of my praise, and all of the food was very reasonably priced to top it all off. The only thing that wasn't perfect were the fries, and I suspect that was my fault. They tasted great, but were a little soggy. My fault for leaving them in the container with the lid on until last. I would definitely order them again, and just get home faster. Avo's Feast, we'll see...
Read moreAfter passing by here several times, my husband and I decided to get something to try. We called in our order for two surf & turf dinners. The call taker was very nice on the phone and said it would be 20 minutes. The food was there and ready for pick up when my husband got there. The food was wrapped nicely in a styrofoam container and then in plastic wrap to keep the juice from making a mess (thank you). The portuguese steak was delicious covered in a wonderful spicy brown gravy with lots of white rice and fries that were amazing. The two shrimp were really large and delicious as well. We were both stuffed after our meals. We definitely will be going back here to try more things on the menu. Delicious food, friendly service and prices that are really good for the amount of food...
Read moreIt is not often that you find this quality of food to go. Usually something ends up dry or overcooked when in a warmer, but not here. I found all of my food to be made fresh and only a few things such as soup and rice came from the warmer. And don't let that fool you because both were excellent. Their steak is AMAZING I personally like it better then Estoril's. The atmosphere is family friendly if you prefer to eat in, and all the staff are wonderful. You may even catch the owner in the back cooking or out front...
