I like how low key Fairfax Inn Restaurant is and it felt homey, like eating at an Aunty's house. I can cook pretty much anything on their Filipino menu, but sometimes I don't feel like cooking and they could probably do it better...haha.
I went here for the first time over the weekend because I was craving tocino. So I ordered the tosilog (tocino, garlic fried rice, eggs which you can choose the way you want them cooked, I got sunny side up eggs). It was pretty good! I'm guessing the tocino is homemade. I wish it came with a side of tomato and onion but all good, I still enjoyed my meal.
I was tempted to also order dinuguaan, but I knew I would be too full. My husband ordered the bistek and he said it was better than his parents' bistek. I actually ate his leftover sabao/sauce with white rice..so yummy. They have other popular Filipino dishes on their menu like chicken adobo, sinigang, pancit mami (soup), fried and fresh lumpia, turon (banana egg roll). I ordered halo halo for my dessert. It was pretty good and I'm glad they don't serve it in a humongous styrofoam cup. It was a perfect size. Halo halo is basically the Filipino version of bing soo but tastes way better because it has additional toppings like red bean, coconut gel, macapuno, ube ice cream, and leche flan. I wish they used the Hawaiian shave ice so the ice is softer as there were bits of ice...it was fine though because I still enjoyed my halo halo regardless. I noticed they had bibingka for sale and wish I bought one!
It looks like there's American food as I noticed on the board they had things like fish sandwiches and I think steak.
Service was quick and they checked up on us. I will definitely will be back when I want my Filipino food fix and don't feel like cooking. If you're looking for Filipino fusion like sisig burritos and ube pancakes, you need to go to DC for that. But if you are craving traditional Filipino dishes, you won't be...
Read moreFirst of all our food took forever to serve and by the time we have it, they’re all cold. The waitress took our order was rude and because we were wearing mask, she probably didn’t understand us and assumed everything to take our orders. Is it really taking so much of the waitress time to repeat the order?! How can you serve egg and beef tapa without rice or bread to eat with it? How can you assumed kids only eat small fruit of bowl?! Even though I clearly asked pancakes first?! When I confronted her before I pay, she took it as I offended her and sarcastically asked me if I want the toast bread? I responded back to her what am I going to do with the toast after we already eaten our food?! I swear this is not our first time coming here since we live around the corner, but the same waitress always took our order, I felt like I ruin her day when she’s sees me. I thought it was just me who noticed it, but my friends and my husband too. I am Filipino, but even though if I wasn’t, I can tell if a person is rude to me which takes no brain to figure out when someone is raising their voice at you and that’s what you actually get from the waitress that always takes our orders. I am very reasonable person, I usually let it slide if the person is rude to me once or twice especially waitresses I know their doing a hard work, but repeatedly more that two times with that kind of attitude then sharing my experiences is a must. Despite of having bad experiences, I still thank you mga kababayan for doing their job, but pls pls respeto naman especially sa kapwa nyong kabbayan wag nyo po kalimutan kahit nasa America kyo, rrespetuhin lng nyo ang mga puti or medyo dress up na tao. I am full-time mom and has full time job as well, so dressing up is my last thing, but my apology if my yoga pants and shirt wasn’t up for your standard to get your respect. Anyway, I’ve written enough and hoping for a good...

I have wanted to go to Fairfax Inn for a long time. I hyped it up to my family and friends, excited to have another Filipino restaurant in the area since there is not a lot in Northern Virginia. However, when we went there on a weekday morning, it wasn't easy to find parking. Once we did find parking, the service wasn't the best. They were not welcoming, we weren’t presented with greetings, nor did they seem excited to serve us. This saddened us because they seemed friendlier to other customers. We ordered breakfast, lunch, and dessert items from the menu. The cassava cake I ordered was warm and good. The rest of our food was missing some things, and when I asked where they were, the server said they ran out. After eating the mediocre food they served us, I tried to order food to bring home to my parents. We’re Filipino, and I knew they’d appreciate Filipino food since they also wanted to try Fairfax Inn. But lo and behold, they also ran out of the specific items I requested and even seemed angry when I asked. I’m not sure what’s going on with this establishment or where the hype even began, but trust me when I say this: it is not worth the drive; take your money elsewhere or buy some ingredients for Filipino dishes you’re craving because I can guarantee that what you make will taste better than what they offered us.
In conclusion, they frequently run out of food and are unfriendly, matching the lack of taste and atmosphere. Not...
