I order some pastries to go and a few other things to eat in store this last weekend, and while they were very good, I had some issues with one of the front staff members. The young lady helping me was grabbing items from the front case for me and as she was doing so, another tall employee obnoxiously bumped into her and told her to move out of the way causing the young lady helping me to drop the items she was bagging for me onto the floor. The taller employee who bumped into her blamed the young lady helping me and was very rude. The young lady who had taken my order was apologetic and offered me other items since I had ordered some of the last sausage rolls in the case that had been dropped. The one rude employee was also very obnoxiously loud and would yell at customers at the register to move over and also refused to sell my friend a breakfast sandwich because she āHad announced earlier that breakfast would be ending soon and that people wanting breakfast sandwiches need to put their orders in.ā While I understand this, my friend was in the restroom when the last call for breakfast sandwiches was made while I was holding our spot in line and I had not known he would be ordering one. Also, while sitting down and eating my cinnamon roll, me and my friend noticed that the one rude employee had gone back to deli and started bringing people their breakfast sandwiches even though a good majority of those she was serving had not ordered long before us. Overall the food was good and I have visited Briar Rose many times. I had never seen the employee before who was very rude, but Iām assuming she is new, but she had a nasty rude attitude with both customers such as myself and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI usually only write positive reviews, but I needed to write this one based on my total disappointment. I received a menu from Briar Rose from a family member. The way the menu makes the place sound is the only good thing about this bakery/deli. I was mistaken when judging from the menu that the culinary offerings would be superior to other NWA breakfast destinations.
The food was not fresh. We ordered a biscuit, which was hard and cold. The bacon was pre-cooked from earlier in the morning, so it had been sitting in the display for several hours. It's hard to ruin bacon, but leaving it sitting around is just sacrilege. There's no point to bacon if it's not fresh.
The ham and cheese croissant was cold, and its ingredients, sub-par, as in crunchy ham and stale cheese. (There is a microwave there, which would not have helped, as microwaving stale food makes it even stiffer.) The house coffee dispenser was empty, as was the half-and-half. You have to keep watching the counter for your food to be put there, because they don't bring it to you or even call out your name.
It's as if they had a really good idea, with interesting menu items and a neat facade to the building, but then they forgot to make the food taste good. It was all about the concept of having a cute name and unique facade, with absolutely ZERO emphasis on fare. I will never eat here again after this first experience. If you want a bakery or coffee, go to Rick's Bakery. If you want breakfast or deli, go anywhere...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWow! Where to start!? There are so many things to love about this adorable deli/bakery. If the name alone didn't entice you, Hello, Briar Rose? The outside of this charming establishment will surely make you want to come in! The flowers and rock wall are truly reminiscent of walking into a fairytale and the decorative paintings on the walls inside are absolutely magical. The huge stone fireplace in the kitchen area and other embellishments are truly out of a story book. There is also an outside space with a vine covered Pergola and some fairytale trees outside that would lend themselves well as a Venue for a Baby or Wedding shower or a little girl's Tea Party birthday. The food is also amazing. My family and I tried the Tomato Basil soup, Spicy Italian sandwich, Turkey and Bacon sandwich and the Tomato/Fresh Mozzarella and Basil sandwich and everything was delicious! We also enjoyed trying the Key Lime pie and chocolate cupcakes and they were a yummy way to end the meal. We drove 3.5 hours to check out this place and I am soo grateful we did! Hoping to return in the Fall to enjoy a beautiful drive full of Autumn color and fill our tummies with another wonderful meal! The only thing I wish they did differently would be to dress in costume. The friendly folks making and serving the food almost seem out of place in their T shirts and jeans, LOL. Truly worth the drive if you don't live in their...
