My wife and I used to love going to Damon's back when it was a food truck. I thought it was the best barbecue in the area. We especially loved the garlic bread that they used to make the sandwiches. We were excited to see that they were were opening an actual restaurant but have not had a chance to get over there until this last weekend to try it out since they opened it. We got there mid afternoon and we were the only ones there. We loved the look of the new restaurant and our waitress was very nice and helpful. My wife ordered the Pulled pork sandwich with fries and I ordered the Tri tip sandwich with fries. We couldn't wait to bite into that delicious garlic bread on the sandwich. Unfortunately we got our food and everything looked good at 1st but when we started eating the sandwiches we thought something tasted different. We both noticed we didn't taste the garlic anymore. Even though it's advertised on the menu that they smear garlic cloves all over the bread you would think you would taste it. We both ate the whole sandwich and never tasted garlic. In fact the bun was just very oily and greasy. We both ended up taking our meat off the bun and just eating the meat and left half of the bun uneaten because it was just too greasy to eat. We asked the waitress who went and found out that they are in fact doing the bun differently than they used to when it was a food truck. They did use to put more garlic on it and they started putting less garlic on it now. We both really wish you would go back to making it how you used to. It was so delicious before, and this time we left disappointed. The pulled pork was still delicious, however we both felt the Tri tip lacked flavor. It was cooked well but it did not have much flavor to it at all without adding barbecue sauce. The fries were hot and delicious. We definitely recommend the pulled pork, but the tri tip...
Read moreThey don't have typical things on their menu that you can find at other bbq places like brisket and pulled beef. Yet, they have filet mignon. They give you a choice of one of three sauces but only bring a small cup of it. Why not have all three sauces at the table so that people can get as much as they want and try all if they choose? Other places, such as Smokin' Joe's, do that.
Their meat is clearly not smoked, but braised. The meat was soggy, lukewarm and bland, as they either didn't season it at all or didn't season it properly. They give you very small portions of meat also.
The sides were disgusting. The bbq beans tasted like nothing more than canned chili beans with a little sauce mixed in. The mac & cheese was bland and the cheese wasn't real. The seasoned fries looked like the frozen season fries you can find at Walmart, that they then added coarse salt and pepper over top of. They tasted way over-seasoned. We left with a bad taste in our mouths, literally.
The service was bad as well. The three women on duty spent most of the time behind the counter chatting with one another. Our waitress never checked on us or refilled drinks.
There's better bbq places in the area. We won't...
Read moreLittle late in posting this as our visit was a week ago today. But I went with my sister and their daughter and my brother and his girl friend. Everyone ordered food on 3 separate tickets. The waitress came out with a huge tray of food, handed us one kids mea and said “okay, enjoy”. We asked where the rest of our food was (since she had several meals still on her tray). And she said she didn’t know. We asked if it’s what she was still holding and she had no idea what was on her tray or who it belonged to. She went inside and came back trying to give it to my brother. Only the garlic bread was his. The rest was mine and my husbands. She then returned with two sandwiches trying to give them to our table, these were not ours. They belonged to the table next to us. She never returned with my brothers food. He went inside to have it cancelled since everyone else was finished and they did cancel it. But then the same waitress came out with his order saying she had the kitchen make it anyway. Everything was cold and dried out. Very very not good! Poor service....
