My first time there; it was Beyond Amazing from the hostess to the bar where I met Chris. I have found my new place to eat when I cruise or ride into Farmville from Chesterfield/Richmond area. Talking about southern hospitality from the time entering to departing. Did I mention the food was the best I have had outside of Memphis. I had Billy's Seafood Platter and it was amazing. I ate half then brought the rest home. My wife who is super finiky scarfed the rest of the catfish, bang-bang shrimp, cole slaw, and hush puppies down. She swears that was the best she has had and will be going with me this weekend to sit and dine. Chris makes the Best Long Island I have had and he is such a nice and enjoyable guy to chat with. If I could give 8-Stars I would. I cannot believe after all these years of riding/crusing to Farmville I never stopped at the Fishing Pig. See the pic of the food, that says it all. Thanks for the Amazing experience, will be back soon. Dr. Ken and Lorna King Update: 3/12/2023; Brought the wife to Farmville/Fishing Pig and she Absolutely Loved the Food, Customer Service, and Cruise there and Back. We sat at the bar so I could ensure we got Chris as our Top Server and he Never Disappoints. The Food was Amazing and the Wife said, and Rarely says this, I will be riding/crusing back with you to Farmville to enjoy the Fishing Pig. Well that is Great but Bikers know what I mean with, well ok. We toured Longwood University, Greenworks locations, and Hampden-Sidney College (Original Fishing Pig Local) while in the Farmville area. Despite the slight snow fluries and rain, what a Fantastic visitic. We will be back real soon.

Ate at the Waynesboro location, but wanted to compare with the original. Service and cuisine did not disappoint. We were quickly served and the food was great. The fried pickles and deconstructed bloom had good breading and were served hot and fresh. We all love the remoulade sauce and the maple/cinnamon butter that came with some sides. The brisket, pork, and ribs all have a very strong smokey flavor. Not overcooked, but not they are not bathed in sauce. They have homemade sauce at the table and plenty of paper towels. The BBQ Chicken wings and legs are phenomenal. All of the rest was great, too. If you like BBQ, the Grady BBQ Sampler is the way to go. The amount of meat provided accounts for the higher price and is justified. It would easily split between 2-3 people. Saved mine for lunch and dinner the following day. Fries were typical. Slaw is a little juicy but not too tart or overly seasoned. All of the brisket was very tender and juicy, while the ribs had strong flavor and a little drier. The fried catfish was another top rated dish within our group, fried to perfection. Definitely a place that we would recommend to others, or take visiting guests for a night out.

I recently visited The Fishin’ Pig in Farmville Virginia , and it was such a great experience from start to finish! The atmosphere is a perfect mix of Southern charm and modern style. I loved the neon sign inside and how inviting the space felt as soon as I walked in. The outdoor signage and landscaping were really well kept, giving a great first impression before even stepping through the doors. The menu offers a little bit of everything barbecue, seafood, and classic Southern dishes. The drink I had was refreshing and served in their branded glass, which was a nice touch. Our bartender, Chris, was fantastic. Not only did he make great drinks, but he also knew all about the history of the restaurant and even gave us some recommendations for local places to check out while we were in town. It made the experience feel personal and welcoming. Staff overall was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. It’s clear they care about providing good service. If you’re anywhere near Farmville and craving some comfort food in a laid-back setting, The Fishin’ Pig is definitely worth the stop. I’m already looking forward to going back to try more of the menu!

We've been here 10+ times since living in the area. Usually the food and service is top notch. So I'll chalk this up to just being here at the wrong time and bad luck. Jan 2 in the late afternoon we decided to sit outside, we ordered our appetizers; hush puppies and pork skins. They came out fresh and hot and were quite tasty. Then we ordered our main meals, a brisket sandwich and pulled pork sandwich, both with sides that don't require additional preparation (like frying the food), the baked beans and potato salad.

While we waited the 30+ minutes for our (already prepared, no baking, grilling, frying necessary) food the server checked on us one time asking us what I was having to drink and if I needed a refill, which had already sat empty for about 10 minutes.

When the food finally arrived (mind you this was before a dinner rush, we left before 5pm) my brisket was lukewarm and my spouses meal was room temperature. My baked beans were room temperature. If it had taken as long as it did and the food was piping hot when it came out, I could understand the wait and would be happy with the results.

Now, of course I know there are always mitigating circumstances. We didn't see how busy it was inside, maybe they were understaffed, maybe the server was new or forgot our order at the window.

I don't like to make a fuss at eateries and I know how the industry is hurting right now in the midst of the pandemic. We decided to quickly leave after I had one bite of my brisket and get home so we could call it a day, heat our food up and settle in.

This is the first bad experience we've had there and it was quite disappointing. We were really looking forward to a hot meal after being outside most of the afternoon. I am hopeful my next visit will be...

I reviewed this restaurant 3 years ago. We have never had food here we didn’t like but I had to update with my experience today because it was nothing short of a miracle. OUR WAITRESS RILEY WAS AMAZING! Our special needs son was having a really awful hard time because he got fixated on buying a shirt from the moment we sat down. I will spare you the details but when the food came he was full on crying at the top of his lungs. I also had our other 3 little ones with us as well so I definitely had my hands full so I asked for boxes because we were going to have to leave. That’s when a lady stopped by our table and prayed for us and then left. Then our waitress came back and let us know that someone paid for our whole meal and even left an encouraging message on the receipt. Then one of the other waitresses came up and took my son and bought him a shirt and gave won glasses to all our other kids. All of the people surrounding us were so kind and encouraging no matter how much I apologized. We were so blessed by all the kindness of the staff and other customers. Thank you so much for blessing our family.

We live in Lynchburg but have been coming here for almost 10 years when we can because we loved the food so much. Now it’s not just that but for this amazing experience for a very hard dinner time for our family.

THANK YOU SO MUCH...
