After seeing this location on social media several times we decided to make the 25 minute drive to try it out ourselves. As we walked in, we admired the large themed dining room. It appeared well decorated, smelled nice, and looked to be a unique chik-fil-a experience - we were excited!
We waited several minutes to be seated and no host(ess) approached. After 6 or 7 minutes passed, a server came by and stated she couldn't find the host(ess) and mentioned it would be a 30 minute wait to be seated. This was slightly frustrating as there was several vacant booths from the moment we walked in. I can only assume they were short on staff and unable to fill all tables/booths. The server briefly explained the difference between the food available on the luau themed side vs the more typical chik-fil-a setting. The items were fairly similar so we opted to not wait and order from the counter.
As we walked to the left and approached the counter to order, the first thing we noticed was the cramped and dirty dining room. The line snaked between the few tables while a line of 15 or so people waited for food on the right. My wife and I looked at each other confused. We had never experienced a chik-fil-a location so dirty and and unorganized before. We were shocked! We waited in line approximately 5 minutes before getting the opportunity to order. We ordered the luau burger, chicken tacos, sweet potato fries, and frozen pinapple shake. My wife and daughter found a table near the windows and it was a mess from the previous customers (as were all the other tables). Not a problem as the wife used a couple wipes and cleaned up before sitting down. The wait for our food took about 10 minutes before they called our name. The employee forgot the pinapple drink and was unaware until I mentioned it was missing. Not a big deal. I went to go grab a fork but they were out so the young lady behind the counter was able to grab one for me. It was finally time to try the unique menu items we had come for. The burger was great but the tacos weren't the best flavor and bit dry for our liking. The sweet potato fries were over done but edible. We made note during our meal that several staff stood around when really the dining area should have been wiped down and supplies refreshed. I can only assume this is a lack of leader oversight issue. We finished our food and the wife decided to order an iced coffee for the road. She took one sip, handed it to me to try, and I tossed it because it tasted horrible. It tasted as if the creamer had gone bad. Overall, we were very disappointed with our experience. To start, the staff interactions were way below what you would typically experience at a chic-fil-a. While the food was unique it was not particularly good. The restaurant (the side we sat on) was cramped, dirty, and under stocked. This location needs to do better all around. For a franchise that strives to be the best at what they do, this missed the mark by a country mile. I don't typically write too many reviews nor am I one to complain in person but this review felt needed as the experience was so off brand. While we'll of course go back to our Newnan chick-fil-a locations this Fayetteville one...
Read moreAs a faithful Chick-fil-A customer for decades, I have to say that Truett's Luau franchise has dramatically gone down in customer service & food. On any given morning, they say they open at 6:30 am but the drive through light doesn't come on until 6:40 or later most days. The front door doesn't open until that time or later as well. With all the issues surrounding the morning I decided to hold off until lunch or after to go to the restaurant. I always use the mobile app and use curbside since for me this is easier than sitting through the drive through or going inside to pick up my order. I place my order today at 4:05 pm and proceeded to wait for 20 minutes and still no one had brought me my order. I get out of my vehicle and walk inside to ask about my order, and they had to go look for it and bring it back from the drive through area. I asked how long it had been sitting and was assured not long (which I honestly did not believe for a second). I took the order went back to my car and looked at the items. Upon further inspection the tropical nuggets I ordered had no sauce on them. So off I go back into the building and this time I request a refund. The same young staff member goes to get a manager to assist me and when he comes back with a manager, he does not even glance my way. He goes to a computer prints out a receipt showing my refund and walks away. I have to say I was a little perturbed that the manager didn't ask me what he could do to make it right or at the very least apologize for the whole incident. The other staff members were scrambling trying to get me a new order together but at this point I just walked away. I asked the nice lady at the front what the manager's name was, and she asked which one and he just happened to walk by, and I pointed to him, and she said his name was Bo (Beau). I politely said thank you and left the establishment. It is not cheap to eat at Chick-fil-A so I expect a higher quality service all around compared to McDonald's or Burger King. Let's face it you do not get it your way at either place and apparently Chick-fil-A is following suite. Truett's Luau is also responsible for the Chick-fil-A in the Piedmont Fayette Hospital, and I never have problems there with staff. As a matter of fact, we are on a first name basis with the employees there and they truly uphold the Chick-fila-A standard unlike the main location. So needless to say I will be limiting my interaction with the Luau until they can implement some much-needed changes to customer service from...
Read moreWe stopped in to Truett’s Luau on our drive from TN to FL, it was a little out of our way but we had been wanting to give it a try. When we first walked in we thought the theme throughout the restaurant was pretty cool. They offer a normal service counter to one side like a regular Chick-fil-a with an extended menu on the sit down side. They do have some of the luau themed food at the counter, but not all of it. Since this was our first time we opted for the sit down side since we wanted to see all the options. We got there at about 11am on Monday, which was a holiday when we went. We did have a 25 minute wait, with only one other 2 person group ahead of us, but we were offered menus to look at while we waited. When we were sat the half of the dining room we were on was pretty empty except for the couple that were sat before us. When the waitress came out we realized she was double sat, and you could tell throughout the whole visit the poor girl was being stretched too thin. I don’t remember her name, she was very nice and made great recommendations, but she seemed to be working half the dining room by herself. Which wasn’t fair to her. In total our party ordered the Pineapple Chicken Tacos, Tropical Nuggets, Island Chicken Salad Sandwich, Banana Macadamia Nut Pancakes, Sweet Potato Fries, Pineapple Fried Rice, and some drinks. The tacos and nuggets were delicious, and we loved the fries and rice. Unfortunately, the island chicken salad came out as a regular chicken salad without the advertised grapes and pineapples in it, so that was disappointing. On the bill it even said just regular chicken salad. We don’t know if there was a miscommunication on our part, or if that was just what they called it instead of island chicken salad, but we were definitely a little upset as we were all sharing our food to try more of the menu and this was something we all wanted to try. With the pancakes, they never came out. We had to ask our waitress about them, since someone else was running food out. You could tell she was upset someone missed this for her, and she immediately sprung into action on getting it fixed. At the time we were getting ready to leave so she made them to go for us, and did comp it off our check. When the pancakes got ate later on, they were delicious even being reheated. Overall our experience wasn’t bad, but not what you’d expect. Minus the few bumps with our food, we still enjoyed it and do plan on coming back...
