After totally wiping out on lunch options in Lynchburg, I started on the drive home and decided I'd eat in Fayetteville instead. Ken's Fast Foods wound up being the call. I wasn't disappointed!
This is a smaller, older looking restaurant. They were busy even for a late lunch around 2 PM. There's not a ton of parking and some of it is on an incline, but it worked out okay for me.
Inside there are about 6-7 small tables and a spot to order at the counter. The menu consists of classic American fast food options, like burgers, chicken tenders, and fries. It reminds me a little bit of a drive-in spot just because it is so nostalgic-feeling.
The service was spot-on and so nice. The ladies working were beyond pleasant and helpful and many seemed to know the local customers quite well. My food came out quickly and was nice and hot.
I ordered a bacon hamburger and a side of fries. Portion sizes here are pretty reasonable and appropriate for the lower price, though if you come with a big appetite I would recommend getting a double or something. Fortunately, I didn't need a huge meal that late in the day, so I was happy with my order. The burger was cooked nicely, the bun was soft, and the bacon was flavorful and crispy if not particularly thick-cut. The fries had a lot of gooey-hot potatoey insides and went well dipped in ketchup.
Simple, fast, and tasty food here! I'd recommend and would visit again if I find myself back...
Read moreI grew up with Ken's. I know they're under new ownership but the quality has gone way down. I resorted to going when there's a line, give them time to get the old out but today, there was no line and I really wanted a slaw burger. The workers were eating and handling customers food without washing their hands. The burgers were smashed, almost flat, stuck together with discolored cheese and very little slaw. They looked old, like they've been sitting, definitely not fresh burgers and the fries were a collection of old and leftovers. I tried to call but no one answered the phone and the mailbox full. Very disappointed. This restaurant is so well loved, too loved to serve...
Read moreI’ve been eating at Ken’s since I was five in 1985. It’s a religion at this point and when I heard Randy was closing shop, my heart sank.
Well that’s the bed news, but there’s a lot of good news and it’s that he sold it to a local businessman and so far they’re open more days with longer hours and the food is still just as good!!!
There is a new system but it works pretty well for what it is. The staff seem eager to help you and that goes a long way with me!
So I’m thankful this pillar of our community is still operating because I love Ken’s so very much!!!!
So if you’re in Fayetteville, come on in and try a double deluxe...
