Umami — Restaurant in Fayetteville

I usually go around Fayetteville trying different sushi places with my wife. When I went to Umami, I had high expectations since I heard a lot of ppl saying good things about it as well as it had a 4.6 review. But I was deeply wrong. The Costumer service was good, but the people preparing the food didn’t have gloves, they were touching all over the food and serving it without gloves at all. No hair nets, I saw two guys with really long hair with no hairnets at all, even women without any. No one had a mask even when we are in the middle of a pandemic. The food was disappointing, the sushi was very underwhelming, it was not fresh at all.. like it had been sitting in a freezer for too long, the price was too much compared to the quality of the sushi. I had the choshu don, it was tasteless, the pork belly had no flavor at all, the rice was drenched in a sweet sauce, all you could taste at one point was the sweet sauce. I also had a coke, they handed me a coke can.. it wasn’t carbonated anymore as well as it tasted way too sweet meaning the can was old and been sitting somewhere for a while. My wife’s green tea was disgusting. It was made with a tea bag of powder instead of a tea bag with actual herbs in it. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend...

GPS was sending me to the wrong address so I called to get a better sense of where the restaurant was I called three times all three times saying female picked up the phone and said please hold and never came back to the phone or at least 5-7 minutes. Just ended up taking about 15 to 20 minutes of time overall the fourth call the female started to say please hold again I said please I just need to know how to get to your restaurant and she told me the two places they were between and I said Okay thanks are you on the left all right side of the road? Because I'm almost there. She said didn't I just tell you what we are close to? I said I'm not familiar with Fayetteville I asked to know so I know what lane to get into because I'm less than half a mile from that area. Then she said are you picking up an order I said no I was going to come in and place an order because I've never been there and she said well we're closing in 30 minutes and we are not taking any more orders you had to make your order about 5 minutes ago. 5 minutes ago you weren't taking the calls. I’ve been coming here for about 2 years now. Food and service has always been amazing. The atmosphere has always been great. I grew up in Okinawa and this is the closest authentic Japanese ramen I’ve had so far. Today I was honestly very disappointed in the service. I understand today is Father’s Day and it was busy but still had no reason why our servers were the way they were, as I am a server myself. We sat down our server asked for our drinks did not introduce her self at all just stood there and said “what do you want to drink” I asked for a Thai tea NO boba she brought back with boba. I didn’t send it back I was fine with it. We order our food every thing was great. They did not check on us not once. Didn’t ask if we needed anything taken off the table any drink refills etc. once they saw we had no more food on the table just brought over the check. And they did this with more tables. Servers were up at the host stand talking instead of attending to their guests. I hope management does take this seriously and retrain their servers to do better.
