Is it that hard to run a bar?! I'm a dart shooter, been coming here for years. This place has never had what anyone would call good service... Cute girls, sure, but whether the place is busy or slow, if you want a drink- it's going to be a while. That's really the nicest way to put it. I've tried tipping well, being nice, standing orders ( I'll be here a while, keep bringing beer until further notice.) The only thing that works is getting there early and ordering for the whole night, "Three buckets of beer & a pitcher of water, please." So, last night... The place was busy so I never met my waitress. I went to the bar to order and smoked a whole cigarette while waiting for the poor bartender to get to me. Busy Saturday night and only two little girls behind the bar... One more note on service, NEVER RUN A TAB!!! EVER! It'll always be wrong but you get about a 10% chance of it being wrong in you favor. Maybe you like those odds, I don't, and I surly don't like arguing about it. On to the darts; Darts has been pretty good to Hot Shots, bringing in lots of people on weeknights that wouldn't have been there otherwise. I remember and thank Hot Shots for free food on playoff nights. What I can't understand is why they can't get it right after all these years! Hot Shots has the floor space, why don't you spread the boards out a little? Why do you use those ridiculously small tables (three deep in the dart area) and arrange them right up on the line so they interfere with the shooter? All you need to do to fix the lighting on the boards is to move the lights about another foot away from the wall, not hard- nail up a longer bracket! Most of the time, dart shooters take these 'small' issues in stride- no biggie, right? Last night was the first time Hot Shots didn't have anything to keep score with. I guess they've stopped buying the crappy little grease pencils and upgraded to dry erase markers that they ran out of. I guess it's a lot cheaper when you don't have to buy anything. The manager said he'd get a pencil & paper if I wanted to keep score that way, didn't seem particularly important to him. I'd like to say that I'm done with the place but as long as I'm on a league, I'll have to come back. Thanks a lot Hot Shots for making it such a chore to shoot darts...
Read moreWe have been to many Hotshot locations and this is our least favorite. We reccomend the Webster Groves location. We only go to this location because it's closer than the rest. They allow smoking inside, so we can never bring our kid or friends with kids here for lunch and games. Certain friends and family members don't even want to go there with us, when we do go, because of the smoking inside. If you aren't a smoker it really can be a drag to be in there. Maybe it just has to do with the ventilation of this particular location. They have very few pool tables and they are shoved into a corner close together. So if you do get lucky enough to grab one of the few pool tables you are constantly having to watch out for whoever is at the table next to you. Just so we don't hit them with a pool stick on accident. The bathrooms (men's and women's) are usually pretty gross. You can tell someone rushed the cleaning in there. Now I do want to say the Bartenders and upper management are tops here. Always friendly and making suggestions. The server we keep end up having there is just terrible. We end up with her everytime so we just started going to the bar instead. She is very slow on slow nights just to being us drinks or to check on us. A couple differnt occasions we were charged for top shelf liquors by her when we had asked for rail. Of course the manager there has always fixed it for us. The food the serve here is always very good as well as...
Read moreHorrible experience. We walked into the building, found a seat. Waitress came and took our drink order. After about ten minutes our sodas came but not my Long Island. We ordered food when she dropped off the soda. The waitress apologized about the drink taking so long and went to check. After about 15 minutes my Long Island finally came. We were still waiting on our appetizer. She came over and checked on us over the next hour. Multiple times she apologized about the food and didnt know if it was being prepared yet or not. The establishment was not busy, atleast compared to what I’ve been used to in other local places. Frustrated and concerned that we had been waiting for a hour and a half for an appetizer, we canceled our food. It took her another half hour to get us rang out so we could leave. The one Long Island I had was a decent drink. I would not recommend going to this place. Maybe other ones are managed better or more efficiently operated but we were highly...
