Put simply, I would have rather gone to chili's.... Service was fair, only two waitstaff working the bar and the entire floor so I'll cut them some slack. Our server was talking about his other job at an auto parts store so kudos to him for being a hard worker. Spinach/artichoke dip had a weird consistency (maybe canned artichokes?) and was served with Tostitos Scoops. Yes. You read that right. It also came with some of the house bread that was toasted to hell and back with an entire shaker of garlic seasoning. I love garlic, and it was too much and I about broke a tooth biting into the crust. My wife's turkey club was nothing to write home about, although the fries were awesome. I observed a single steak meal on the menu, with the option of Filet Medallions or ribeye. I mean there's like a dozen steak houses on the island so I understand not trying to compete there, but 2 options? Plus they didn't even have the medallions. Ribeye for me then! It was less than a half inch thick and cooked unevenly (I ordered med. rare). Starch of the day was cheesy potatoes with brown gravy. So salty I couldn't take more than a bite. I did thoroughly enjoy my cucumber salad, which was well marinated and served over spinach.
The banana pudding was brownish which although not an issue is still unappealing, and there was copious amounts of cinnamon added. Who adds cinnamon to a simple banana pudding?
So.... Get the cucumber salad and...
Read moreI got the open-faced turkey New Yorker, and my husband got the BLT. We both had the potato salad as our side. I’m writing a review largely to counteract some of the negative reviews I see. We went a couple months ago, and I hopped on Google to pull up the menu and was really surprised about the negative feedback from people around the same timeframe as our visit. I really enjoyed the open-faced style sandwich. I was worried it would be messy, but the way it was constructed, that wasn’t the case at all. The bread they use is very flavorful and has a nice texture, and their sandwiches are “different” enough that it isn’t like getting just a plain boring sandwich that you could easily make at home. And the herbs used in the potato salad give it a unique and very tasty flavor. Ironically (if only because it’s one of the easiest things to make), the hot dog my father-in-law ordered was the only thing that wasn’t good — the bun was burned, the hotdog was overcooked, and there was enough mustard on there for 3 hot dogs. BUT…the more complicated menu items were executed perfectly. My husband and I look forward to going back. As for the service, the young lady who had our table was very friendly and attentive. And she had multiple tables (i.e. it wasn’t just us). We are looking forward to going back next time we’re on the southern part...
Read moreWe are visiting for a weekend and liked that they had a good kids menu, and they had a good rating so we tried them out. Unfortunately, we were left with much to be desired. I had the special pasta which was penne with shrimp, mussels and veggies in a white wine sauce. The sauce unfortunately was over reduced and not all the alcohol was cooked off. It was not a very good flavor. My husband had the gumbo which he stated had an odd flavor to it and wasn’t something he loved. One of my kids had the cheese pizza which thank goodness wasn’t bad, though it was a ready made pizza crust as you could tell by the holes in the crust. My husband had the salad with grilled chicken and said it was pretty good but salty. We really wanted to like this place but it just didn’t live up to a 4.6 rating. The service was good and friendly which was welcome - no fault there at all. It had a lot of potential I think, but would not come back...
