VEGAN REVieWTimE EXPRESS TODAY REPORT:
Alright! This place is alright! I've been here a couple times so now it's time to say some words about it. First of all, one of my pet peeves, they have that 'alternative' milk tax. And here it's a whole dollar! But the latte I got contained that sweet, sweet caffeine which is the most important part anyways. They have 'for here' cups which I appreciate. So maybe it almost kindof almost balances out, yes? The people at the counter are awesome! I've dealt with three of them and they're all great. Also, one of them was rocking some Primus and I never realized how motivating they are. Thank you counter-fairies! The default options at the counter start at 18% though... I mean I'm not getting service... they're not pouring me overflowing cups of water... this is a $1.00-$2.00 default tip kind of thing. Is this a hot take? MAYBE. MAYBE I HAVE HOT TAKES. Maybe I'm on fire. Ok, whatever. The food! They have a couple of sandwich option and I've tried both of them! They're also fairly expensive that come with chips or fries (the fries are a bonus charge). The hot tofu sandwich was slam-dunkin delicious. I enjoyed it thoroughly. The vegan philly lacked flavor. Very generous portion though. The fries themselves had some flavor dust on them that I thought was gooood. Thanks! Buuuuut, that vegan philly is $18, fries is another $4, with tip this is a $25 sandwich. I don't know what job you have but if you make minimum wage this is a 2-hour sandwich. I mean, Michigan minumum wage is supposedly around $12.50, APPROX. Just sayin.... The seating is pretty cool, plenty outside for the nice days and inside the art is cool and I like the lamps. Not enough plugs though if you're coming here to WORK N VIBE. OVERALL it's alright. A bit too expensive to be a regular spot but if you live close it'll work for the occasional coffee sesh. Yeah, I said...
Read moreAre you surprised that racism of abounds at a place that gentrified the name “projects” to open a drinking establishment?
This place is not safe for sober queer femmes experiencing gender based violence. I’d say it’s not safe for POC but as long as you don’t talk back to the white guy in charge you’ll be fine.
I was sitting outside yesterday and there were two very loud seemingly WHITE and femme presenting people siting talking loudly about their political views.
I left shortly after the long person with dark hair made rude comments about cops and yelling about drama.
I get it. It’s a public space and a lot of us maybe are working from home or visiting from other places.
But Jesus Christ, there was a reason nobody else was on the patio and it’s because these two people made the white queer space so uncomfortable for anyone else .
I left shortly after I saw the white owner called the cops on a woman who got harassed in the bathroom . I didn’t get her name, but I’m sure she’ll be OK.
As for the fences outside, I hope they learn to control their volume because I heard one of them say that she was not white and that was half her issue that people just keep thinking she’s white .
It’s so strange to be in Detroit and actually from Detroit and experience so much aggression and passive racism from white people who are in the space as a loud “guest”
But that’s why racist people say it’s not about race when they’re being loud and entitled in spaces because they paid enough to be there so they won’t ever have to worry about why men harassing them.
Anyway, I literally left because of those two people unnamed individuals were so loud outside.
I just want to sit in peace in the shade and they definitely ruined it and I feel bad for the woman who got sexually harassed in the...
Read more#44 (I'm pretty sure) in the Metro Detroit Brewery Discovery Tour. Great location. September 1st, 78° F. The outside seating is expansive, easily exceeding the amount of indoor seating by square footage certainly. And it is calling nearly everyone. On the street side (east) are 8 tables on faux grass with 80% of the area shaded by awnings. The parking lot facing side (north) is shaded to a lesser extent but both are a great place to imbibe or eat on beauteous summer day like this one. Indoors is a bit louder - mostly due to the music played therein (alt-rock) - with many big, picnic-style tables to relax at and enjoy food & brews, as well. They had only 6 beers, 3 "creations", seltzer and wine available. The darkest beer was a just added marzen/oktoberfest. A wheat, a hefeweizen, two sours and some IPAs. Not a very broad offering of styles. After getting my first beer I headed outside. All the tables were occupied save one and it was covered with a previous party's leftover glasses and food trays. But the somewhat comfy, Adirondack style chairs were there so I shoved some of the detritus over and claimed my space. An hour & a half - a refill - later and no one had even ventured from behind the bar to the outside areas. Three hours after arrival and there were now multiple tables with dishes & glassware. Four-plus hours, and having hit the bottom of my 2nd brew, the tables were still full of dishes, glasses & leftover food. Time to go. Apparently, bussing the tables rates really low on the jobs-to-be-done scale. With some breadth to the styles on offer and some cleaning up of no longer occupied tables, this could be a place to revisit. But right...
