PJ's Coffee — Restaurant in Ferndale

Nice new coffee shop. The beignets, green matcha, and espresso all were good. Pretty bustling coffee shop, even for early in the week. Tips for improvement: Play up the beignets more in the display case. They’re awesome and set you apart from other shops, but you kind of have to search to find them in the case. The young people who work there aren’t the most attentive. It seemed like one young woman was responsible for most of the drink orders (including at the window), while the other 3-4 young people moseyed around. Longer wait than necessary to take my order, given there were 4-5 employees behind the counter. Didn’t get the warmest greetings from either of the young people who took my order, and I ordered twice in one visit. I thought it could be my imagination - but I watched the same thing happen to other customers. Consider ditching the door alarm -- the constant ringing is a little odd for a coffee shop.

#2- April 2025- I went to grab some beignets, I love the mini ones from here they are sooooo good. But, I also ordered a Frozen Lemonade, and was asked did I want to add any syrups??? That caught me off guard, I asked was it already sweetened? I was told yes, that frozen Lemonade was NOT sweet at it, it was entirely bitter, it taste like the rind of the lemon, do not order it I guess without the syrups.

#1 Nov 2024- So I stopped by this place one morning on my way to work. I grabbed a croissant, beignets, and a hot chocolate. I never knew a Hot chocolate can taste just like warmed up water, there was no flavor in it whatsoever. The beignets were cool, it’s a nice touch as there is not much of these as an option.

I originally wanted a bagel toasted, but when the attendant read my order back and said (warmed) bagel, I had to cancel that part of my order. A toasted bagel is not the same as a warmed bagel.

Nevertheless, I will give them another...

First time ordering from inside PJ'S. The coffee bar area is beautiful- nice and bright. The staff are friendly, the drinks were made quickly, and they tasted great! So, why only 3 stars? When I first learned a coffee shop was going in there, I immediately thought of a cool, relaxed, laid back environment where you could go with a friend and just hang out for a while. I was disappointed because it was not that. I love the seating, but that's pretty much all there is. I think some plants, a (fake) fireplace, maybe some books/a bookcase, and just some decor to soften the place and make it feel more inviting. I was hoping it'd be a place where I would want to go with a friend or a good magazine, sit down, and relax for a while. Let me reiterate, it's a great place to go and get a good cup of coffee, and be helped by pleasant staff; unfortunately, however, for me, it's just not really a place...
