EDIT: I ordered the Hot Mess sandwich, which the waitress described as a Philly cheese steak sandwich. The menu lists it as "Spacecat seitan grilled with peppers and onions on a hoagie roll with house cheese sauce." 🤷♀️
I ordered the Philly cheese steak sandwich with fries, and it was pretty good, but it just didn't taste like a Philly cheese steak to me. The "meat" was more reminiscent of a beef brisket sandwich due to the thickness, texture, and the cut of the seitan. The cheese sauce was not very good. The color was more like peanut butter, and it tasted strongly of salt and garlic - more like a salty garlic sauce than cheese sauce. The fried potatoes on the side were super yummy, especially with the vegan ranch. Vegan cookies are pricey, but tasty. I can also say that the food was fresh.
My critique: Turn the Philly steak sandwich into a brisket sandwich instead. Get some smoked and bolder flavor on the seitan, bun toasted with vegan butter, and create a bbq sauce to go alongside with a slaw and smoky baked beans. I think this will be a better execution. Also, a couple of additional side dishes would be nice.
Overall, I would definitely try this place out again. The service was nice and friendly, and I have a feeling other dishes on the menu might be...
Read moreThe food is amazing! I tried the Vegan Cheese Sticks sticks with their magic sauce. The sticks were piping hot and the sauce was delicious, they told me it has curry in it but dont let that deter you because it is the best sauce ive ever had! For my meal I had the Hot Mess, i was hesitant about the 'vegan cheese sauce' but that is definitely the way to go. The dish will be ruined if you change it to dairy cheese shreds! The 'vegan cheese sauce' is definitely more sauce than cheese, i would call it more of a tumeric sauce as i didn't detect any cheesy flavor. With saying that it is definitely the perfect combination of flavor! Just a possibly misleading name. Same can be said about the Cosmic Fries, they are less like fries and more like potato wedges, not what I was expecting but not bad either way. The workers were all nice but possibly a tad disorganised. One sauce was not sent to the table with the food so another girl brought it only to have the sauce finally come out 10 minutes later, they obviously apologized and fixed it. My entre also wasnt served until my sister was already well into eating her food. It is sad that such a nice place seems to not have AC. It would have been way more enjoyable having a meal in a...
Read moreSpacecat is my fav restaurant! The food is delicious, nourishing, & creative. Their weekly specials are something to look forward to. The staff is genuine, caring, & extraordinarily hard working. I respect the way they operate their business. I love that they serve vegetables with each order. There’s so much to love about Spacecat, I feel so lucky it’s here. They have incredible baked goods, & around special occasions often do take home meals/treats. Ordering online through their website is a breeze and there’s easy pick up parking in back. I’ve liked everything I’ve had here but gotta shout out the red dwarf burger - wildly delicious! The cheese sticks are the best out there. Every soup has blown me away. The migas is a top tier breakfast. Brunch quesadilla, Caesar salad, cheeseburger burrito, toad in the hole are some other favs but the whole menu is a masterpiece. Their sauces are exceptional as well. Magic sauce is my favorite, and the cashew sour cream is great. The space is a delight, it is thoughtfully designed, always has great tunes playing, there are photos of community pets & fun art to look at. I can’t say enough good things about Spacecat....
