China King Buffet — Restaurant in Fernley

No buffet is perfect, but my friend and I found this quaint little gem in Fernley, so we decided to check it out. This place is not just a buffet, but you can order some things off the menu. There are definitely options here. The buffet, in my opinion, is fantastic for the price that it is. We went on a Saturday, and it was 12.99. We got there around 2pm, and the food was fresh and good. It was so good, we came back on Sunday around the same time. I never ordered anything off their menu, but I'm planning on coming back to try the kung pao shrimp. That sounds pretty tasty. I've been to a lot of buffets, and it is rare to find a buffet that costs 12.99 these days. Usually buffets costs $16 a person, or even more. Like I said, no buffet is perfect, but this place is also very clean. I look at the cleanliness of a place, and if the place is not clean, I leave. So kudos to this place for being so clean, well-organized, and kind to the customers. Honestly, I can eat here every day. And I don't say that about too many places. I wasn't going to put a review but my 3 children, myself and my husband went and ate here today. The food tasted off. But my children like sushi and they seemed happy. Well now its been 5-6 hours later and they are throwing up. I found it odd that they charged my 10 year old daughter as an adult, but I went and paid. The owner has her children doing all the work. Clearing the tables, bringing drinks (which I am not completely against because children should learn) but what put me off is that the owner had her 12 year old daughter (yes I asked) check me out and run my card. I asked if their mother gives them the tip and she said sometimes but not often. To me, the food tasted like it was cooked 3 days ago and they just warmed it up. Like I said in the beginning, I wasn't going to leave a review because I can see that it is a small business and it supports those 2 children, but I couldn't not say something now that I have 2 children throwing up. (I believe it may be food poisoning) and that is my main reasoning for leaving this review, so that no one else gets food poisoning.

The food was okay, but just like in the past when I stopped going there, the cleanliness of tables was gross- greasy, sticky- had to change 3 times to find one that me and my daughter didn't stick to. The buffet is not like the menu picture they leave on your door.. Food temperature was border line dangerous- less than 110. If health department visits they might get shut down. 35 bucks for 1 adult 1 child . Sprite tasted like water filters haven't been changed in a long time ( retired food service manager, just warning people) wasn't bad enough to make a scene and leave, but if we get sick tonight I will be updating this review😉 Also by reading reviews it obvious friends are padding the over all rating. You're not fooling anyone- the restaurant wasn't just having a bad night when we went. When good reviews use generic non specific language to explain why the restaurant was 5 stars while the poor reviews mention specific problems like food temperature and over charging, you have to be naive to not see the obvious fake 5 star reviews.
