Decor was decent, but the smell was atrocious as we sat down. We probably would have left, but salsa and chips were in front of us immediately. Seemed weird to leave so we decided to give them a chance to see if the smell dissipated. It never did. Table salsa was decent, but paired with a bowl of some sort of flavorless shredded cabbage and jalapeños in a dirty bowl. Neither bowl helped to hide the stale chips. I ordered overpriced carne asada. The food temperature was good, but 3/4 of the meat wasn’t meat. I’m ok with a bit of fat, but it shouldn’t encompass 75-85% of the main entree. Nestled next to my plate of fat was a bit of canned retried beans. The taste of tin in the beans complemented the fat nicely and was garnished with a tiny bit of shredded cheese. Next to this was a creative take on what I believe was supposed to be guacamole. It was a lovely shade of brownish-dark green. Having seen the effects of time on a rotten avocado, I’m guessing that if this interesting take on guacamole was ever made fresh, it certainly wasn’t done within the last 5-6 days. Instead, I’m guessing they let it develop a nice brown skin on the top before attempting to camouflage its age by just mixing it up a bit - a great timesaver I’m sure compared to making it fresh. I cannot comment on its taste as I opted out. Before leaving, I decided to wash my hands in the men’s room. The dimly-lit room’s filth was rivaled only by mid-80’s gas station bathrooms that opened to the outside. Still, there was soap which would have been nice if the faucet hadn’t been nestled so low and close to the sink’s edge preventing it from engulfing my hands with water. I was able to carefully guide the water towards my hands with the tips of my fingers to rinse. Positives? First, the paper towels we’re stocked well in the men’s room so that they could be utilized to prevent the need to touch the door handle on my way out. Second, there was ample space in the parking lot which I appreciated as my escape...
Read moreYour basic small town mexican restaurant. Nothing really draws you in at first glance. The service was great. Our server was on top of it all. As for the food. Not sure what region the cooks are from but im not a fan of how the salsa is prepared, they serve a kind of slaw that seems to be their version of salvadorean curtido but misses the mark. Ordered a chile relleno and it seemed to have just been chile and cheese omlette. I do have to say the rice and beans are really good, but if you mess that up, theres a problem. The enchiladas are not something I'd order again because the sauce served on top seemed to be a mix between a mole sauce and chile rojo. Being mexican myself with inlaws from mexico, this place reminded me more of a texmex place rather than your traditional mexican restaurant. The only thing missing was the bowl of "queso" to eat with the chips. I will add that what will keep me going there is the fact that they have a full bar. But it still wouldnt be my first choice in places to get mexican...
Read moreSo never ordering from here again. Wasnt gonna make a fuss about it but since the manager basically lied to me about bringing me a replacement meal as the original one had shrimp in it after it was requested for it to not be in there as I'm highly allergic. I get my food and what's in it. Shrimp. Luckily I didnt take a bite out of it. I'm just extremely upset the fact they were made aware of my allergy when making our meals yet proceded to make it with shrimp and the fact the manager had apologized and said she would make me a replacement and bring it to me but never did is even more upsetting. Definitely would not recommend this place to anyone after my...
