To start this review let me just say the wait time is ridiculous! We waited 40-50 minutes for two adult meals and one tamale with 2 plain tacos. After the long wait we each got our plates at different times. They arrive with the plates and i see that the portions are extremely small!!! The price is not worth it it seems like we pay high prices just because they have a low amount of customers and just want to keep their doors open. My plate came with tortillas and the wait for that was long if not just as long as we waited for the food by the time our waitress came with the tortillas she saw we were done with our meal. We then asked for our check im typing this while we wait for it lets see how long its takes them to bring that!!!!! Moral of this review is dont eat here if you want a decent mexican style of food this establishment degrades what us mexicans and latinos cherish which is great hospitality and respect!!! Save your money and dont show up!!!
Read moreWe enjoy visiting Fillmore for a day trip from Los Angeles. We enjoy the fish hatchery, the historical museum and the antique shops. La Fondita or The Fondital Mexican Restaurant was the first restaurant we tried and just visited again. While the ambience isn't great (very plain, almost hospital cafeteria like), the food, price and friendly service make up for it.
The value is excellent and it really feels and tastes authentic. The service isn't the fastest by any means, but they're very friendly. One thing I will say... if you're eating there, sit at a table instead of waiting at the counter. I made that mistake the first time and wasted quite a while.
This should go without saying, but stick with the Mexican food... my three year old got the chicken nuggets the other day and it was the literally themost processed meat I'd ever seen.
I think in other places this might be more of a 3... but they're value and reliability, mixed with the fact that there's not much else in the area, pushed me to give them a 4. especially because I was excited to try the nearby Central Station bar and Grill and couldn't get seated or even acknowledged after waiting...
Read moreWell, I don't know what happened but the food was mediocre today at best. Had the Supreme nacho platter and it was not anything that I would go back and get again. Even the chips were different. It's as if they changed the supplier because they just were not the same as they have been the last two years . Could be just me but I don't know. Had the chile relleno and for the first time I was disappointed. Both orders seemed as if they had been sitting for a while, especially nachos. Chile relleno was not up to par. Food took way too long to come to the table. I will go back again but next time I'll try the tacos a la carte. Hopefully it will be...
