Average or below average on all accounts.
I've been to this restaurant probably 25x over the past 3 years. This weekend marks my last visit. And no, it has nothing to do with the 1970's-era dining room and the order board behind the counter which is so faded from time + sunlight that you can't see an accurate photographic representation of the dishes, or decipher the text.
It also has nothing to do with the fact that I've never once been thanked for either my business or generous tips for pick-up/take-out orders. From what I've heard/read (repeatedly, these past few years), Americans are absolutely exhausted when it comes to tip expectations (entitlement), and tip guilt. If you're going to include a tip line on receipts, how about at least acknowledging your customer and their generosity? They owe you...nothing.
I've picked up phone-in orders several times where I was missing items, or got something totally different than I ordered (ex: ordered a large serving of entree dish + Lo Mein = received a serving of Lo Mein). This has happened to me multiple times. My advice to customers: open up every container to check your order before driving all the way home. Save yourself a(nother) round-trip.
A few months ago, I came in to pick up my order, which apparently wasn't ready yet after 30 minutes. So, I waited (...and waited). Finally, I stepped up to ask where my order was. Turns out they gave it away to someone else. So, I waited (...and waited) for them to prepare my order (...a second time). And for my wait, guess what they offered me? Not a can of soda, or an eggroll, or an extra $.05 of rice, or an extra fortune cookie. I was offered...nothing.
On specific menu items: -Mongolian Beef: a large/full serving includes a grand total of maybe (?) a half cup of steamed white rice (which costs approx. a nickel to prepare). Totally ridiculous. Like, if you were splitting this dish family style, the first person would get rice with theirs, and everyone else...nothing. I don't get the logic here. The sad part is that the Mongolian Beef is one of their better items, and prepared correctly. -Sweet & Sour Chicken: quite literally breaded chicken + sauce. No peppers, no onions, no pineapples like 90% of Chinese restaurants I've ever eaten at. Breaded chicken + sauce. The bare minimum. I'm sensing a theme here. -Cashew Chicken: I would rank their recipe and presentation in the bottom 25% I've ever...
Read moreWow! What a pleasant surprise! I had eaten here in the past and thought it was decent. I had a bad craving for Chinese food recently, and figure I would give another go, and I am so glad that I did!
I ordered a lot, so bare with me..!! I wanted to try a bunch of stuff to see if the recent hype was warranted. A lot of people were saying that there is new management and things were a lot better.
When I called to order, I was very pleased with the politeness that came from the other end. Generally they are very quick and short because they are very busy, but not this time. (may have been a fluke?) I ordered Chicken Fried Rice, Steamed Dumplings, & Crab Rangoon. I didn't take any pictures because I was starving and simply forgot... HA!
My experience with most fried rice is that is has a little taste, and is just sort of, "meh." The Chicken fried rice at China Wok was full of flavor, and the chicken was seasoned! What? Yes... The chicken was seasoned... Weird, right? The steamed dumplings were absolutely delicious. I ate all 8 of them myself! The crab rangoon were very good, and full of substance in the middle! And there was actual crab meat in the filling!
My experience this time was great, and I will continue to go back because it was delicious! I am so excited because they are right by our home! Keep up the...
Read moreGeneral tso's chicken is my absolute favorite at this location! Not too spicy just right. The shrimp fried rice is super good, and I love how their generous with the amount of shrimp in every bite !
I didn't get my cashier's name but the gentleman was very welcoming & kind and good conversation as I waited briefly.
Food was fresh with about a 10 to 15-minute wait Max! I'm from Chicago Illinois and it's hard to find food that matches what I love from back home but this has hands down been the best Chinese food restaurant I've had since living in Indiana!
I've only dined in once a couple years ago , so I can't give too much feedback on the atmosphere . There is usually always a few tables available and the establishment is clean. And certain days the lines are long! So that speaks for itself on how good their food is!
I usually do the take out cuz I'm on the go, and rather have it in the comfort of my home.
Love y'all please don't...
