We came to this place for lunch because we wanted a different Mexican place other than our 'go to'. This experience just solidified why this place is not my first choice and will be my last. I've been to this Mexican restaurant a few times over the years and have had an OK experience despite the dirty atmosphere. Today when we walked in no one was there to greet us (after making eye contact) so we sat ourselves at a table (away from 1 other customer they had). Our waitress came to our table, didn't introduce herself and immediately asked us what we wanted to drink and eat. We gave her our drink order and said we haven't looked at the menu, which we just got and we needed more time. She acted like we had put her out for sitting in another section. She came back with our drinks and asked us what we wanted to eat. We again said we would have to look at the menu and we would let her know. This was the last time she came to our table. As we were eating our chips, salsa and cheese dip she decided to spray cleaner on all of the tables around us. The fumes were horrible, not to mention the tables were already cleaned and had napkins and silverware on them. As my 77 year old mother got her attention and asked her " could you please wait until we're done eating?" Our waitress says, "I have to clean!" and proceeded to clean. The tables are clean if you have unused napkins and silverware already on them. Plus the fact that this was way after the lunch hour rush. Looking back she just wanted us out of there because we were an inconvenience to her. We had every intention to order food but her rudeness and lack of service prevented that. I decided I wasn't going to order any food neither was my nauseated mother so I asked for the check. The bill came to $12.20 ( 2 Cokes - no refill, 1 sm. cheese dip, 1 salsa and 1 basket of chips). She charged me for a basket of chips because we didn't order food which most places do but due to her rudeness and lack of service I wasn't about to stay. I paid the bill but didn't tip her which was a first for me. I have no problem tipping 20% or more based on good service. We will NEVER be back to this unwelcoming place again! There's several friendly Mexican restaurants in the area to choose from. And here's an idea...if you don't like your job find another one!! It's a shame how 1 employee can ruin a customers experience at your establishment! DON'T WASTE YOUR...
Read moreDepressing atmosphere, dirty, and terrible service. Food was too salty to finish.
We sat down and my wife decided to order her first margarita since having our second child. We barely got our menu when our waiter asked us what we'd like to drink. As I flipped to the last page our waiter said "I'll come back" - no greeting, no kind words. Just a dismissal. After 15 mins he came back and we ordered our food with a waiter who was short and impatient, cold, and borderline rude.
My wife's margarita was laughably terrible: a cheap mix with hardly any tequila. It was so sweet it was like syrup. She couldn't finish more than a few sips. She waited nine months for this! Bummer.
The food came and my son's kids quesadilla was simply white American cheese between two flour tortillas. On the side was a sloppy portion of refried beans.
I was served the La Favorita quesadilla - can't go wrong here, right? Wrong. It was chicken in a mushroom flavored brown gravy between two flour quesadillas. I couldn't pick it up because it turned into a slimy, floppy mess. On the side I had rice and a bagged green salad with bright green guacamole that resembled baby food - smooth and bright green. Not a hint of tomatoes, onions, or cilantro. Everything was over salted to the point that I could not finish it. A few bites in I called it quits.
My wife ordered a trio of enchiladas. It tasted like an MRE except for the beef. This tasted exactly like the way canned dog food smells. She got through a few more bites than I did but the salt did her in after about the 10th bite.
Aside from our food, the restaurant was filthy. The carpets were black from dirt and grime and there was food all over the floor. Walking past the kitchen to the bathroom I noticed it smelled like a dirty grease trap - anyone who's been around one knows exactly what that smells like: a sour, foul smell like no other. We were one of maybe 3 other tables in the entire restaurant. It was quiet with dim florescent lighting.
The best part of this entire experience was leaving. I wrote this long review with hopes of discouraging others to make the same mistake.
Take a pass on El Camino Real. It's absolutely terrible in every...

We started going to this place about two months ago. While the service hasn’t been great, the food was good and they typically were pretty quick. Tonight was a different story.
When we sat down, two other tables sat down in front of us. After ordering, we waited, and waited, and waited. After the two other tables got up to leave (because they were finished eating) they finally brought us our food. We immediately noticed that the kids meals were cold. When I say cold, it wasn’t “not hot”, it was actually colder than room temp.
We waited for a few minutes and when no one showed up to help us, I walked the plates back to the kitchen. About a minute later they brought the plates back to the table. The lady that brought them back said the plates were hot. When we touched the meat again, it was not any warmer than it had been. When we brought this up, the lady said “they warmed it up, it was fresh”. When we told her that it was cold she grabbed it as if she didn’t believe us and said they make all their food fresh. She was extremely rude and refused to apologize for the food not being warm. When we said we would just leave her response was “not until you pay for every thing”. After offering to pay for the half a pitcher of margaritas we drank and being charged for the whole thing, we left and will NEVER BE BACK. Customers beware! Don’t expect any kind of...
