My family is on vacation at Great Wolf Lodge and for tonight we wanted to eat off site, (even thought the restaurant at Great Wolf is pretty good and fair inexpensive). We found Slattery's online. Overall it was excellent, the inside of the restaurant is neat, clean, and updated even though it's in a very old building. I will tell you the worst thing first... it is clearly the diamond of the neighborhood, this is far from a beautiful area, but again the restaurant itself inside and out is very nice looking.
We had their "better wedge salad" with house-made blue cheese dressing and it was very nice and plated beautifully. I had the French onion soup which was one of the best ones I have had and I eat it everywhere. It was huge, lots of cheese and the broth was very dark, and flavorful. I would honestly come just to eat that soup again, if you come don't miss it.
The kids Iiked their dinners and the kids menu has about 10 options which is nice. My wife got a chicken sandwich with avocado and the avocado as well as everything was very fresh. Our service was great, food was nicely pacd and server was knowledgeable and friendly. The restaurant was very slow especially for a Saturday night but I am thinking maybe the restaurant is a little above the neighborhood but not fancy and probably does well when the college down the street goes back in session. I had the chicken, Broccoli Ziti and it was pretty good, the chicken on it was excellent but the oil sauce could have used a bit more garlic/spice. If you are close by I would definitely recommend trying this restaurant. We really have...
Read moreWe had great service. The hostess was polite and quick. I really like that it has a romantic vibe. The food was good although I would not recommend their chicken piccata as the chicken itself wasn't right for that dish. It wasn't properly sauteed. It was more like thrown in a pan without the right breading. It clearly didn't have time or breading to meld with the sauce. As a result, it was dry and tasteless Their meatballs and pasta were good. The pasta was perfect. The sauce was good. I loved the meatballs but was a little surprised at the amount of bread or bread crumbs they used. They tasted great and were very tender. I loved the zoodles! It was a lovely and romantic experience (until the little child in the booth next to us threw a fit, cried and vomited. The staff helped the poor mom but the noise and smell put the damper on our meals and quiet dinner. I have kids and that happened to me. I felt badly for the mom and staff but I wish the staff had the realization that perhaps they should just offer to relocate us away...
Read moreWhat a wonderful little “diamond in the rough”! This place is the perfect combination of Irish and Italian. The best of both worlds! Family owned and operated, with incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. Liam was our bartender and he gave us all the best suggestions, from the most popular items on the menu to their traditional family recipes. Their zucchini sticks with horseradish cream are delicious and hit the spot, but if you plan to eat a full entree, stick with the half order as the zucchini is thick cut and very filling. We made the mistake of ordering the full size and thought we’d have enough room for the rest of dinner. Their homemade Ricotta Gnocchi and Meatballs is another winner and worth a try. We plan to go back and try their popular “Olde English” Fish and Chips and a burger, which were highly recommended. With so many great options to choose from, we just have to got back to try them all. We know we won’t be...
