Last night was our first time there and we loved it. I wish I would have taken pictures because everything we ordered was looked amazing! Honestly, we were just so happy and living in the moment. We started with the wings served with a thicker (I think homemade) blue cheese. Im actually not sure which one to rave about more. The blue cheese was delicious! Im not usually a fan of blue cheese unless it’s “real”. If I can’t tell it’s blue cheese, Im not a fan but believe me, there was no question this was the real deal!! The wings were perfect!! A little crunchy one the outside and tender on the inside. It’s been a long time since I had a good wing so I was instantly impressed and knew I would be back for at least the wings!! When our meal came, it was perfectly timed right when we were finished with the wings, I ordered the pork chop and he ordered the burger. I was so excited! It was all served beautifully and had a nice broiled finishing look to it. The pork chop was thick and tender and served with some tasty grits and crispy greens!! I never even knew they would work well together but they did!!! The greens it was served with were also delicious with a light seasoning. It made me think that the salads must be delicious!! I did get to try my husbands burger and it too was equally as delicious!!! I saw that another table had a few people who had ordered the burger and after that one bite, I quickly knew why! The texture of the bun was perfect. It was nothing less then gourmet. It was served with thick steak fries and a special dipping sauce. That might be the next thing I order there!
I’ll be honest... I wanted so badly to finish because it was so good and just couldn’t. Definitely good portions so make sure to bring your appetite. I keep thinking how I left the bone!! The meat closer to the bone is always the best part!!
I did look around the shop a little bit after dinner and it was another “wow” for us. Very unique boutique items and soaps. The girl working the front was kind enough to share a sample of the soaps made by a nurse who started making it for her burn patients. I love the idea of using something so gently on my babies and can’t wait to get more
The thing I loved the most is that it could be the perfect date night with my husband or brunch with my mom. I was told that they hold wine and paint nights and really can’t wait to sign up for the next one!!
I actually called my mom today to rave about this little gem I found and now she can’t wait to come with me next week!!
Thank you for the experience!!! See...
Read moreMy husband and I discovered Acres Bistro in early 2023 and it has become our favorite restaurant, well worth the 30 minute drive one-way. We’ve even twice had lunch and dinner on back to back days - the food, service and environment are simply that good. If you’re traveling on I-88 or I-39 near Rochelle, Acres Bistro is well worth the short drive from the interstate. You won’t find a fresher more delicious meal for miles around.
I’m always on the lookout for salmon and theirs is excellent. My favorites are the Spring Salad with salmon (the waiter suggested the lemon vinaigrette dressing and it was perfect!) as well as the Honey Spiced Salmon entree (another recommendation from the knowledgeable staff). My husband is a fried chicken fanatic and loves their Wednesday night special that includes the comfort food classics of mashed potatoes, gravy and corn. The chef also does a terrific Friday Fish Fry, offering cod and shrimp, either fried or baked, which is a nice option.
We also love their hamburgers (in addition to those on the menu, the chef does an innovative burger of the week) and crispy chicken sandwiches, all served with hot delicious hand-cut fries. Service is friendly and attentive as our glasses of water, ice tea and Coke are always promptly refilled, even when sitting outside at our favorite table on the comfortable deck. They also serve beer, wine and cocktails. Our favorite is their Back Pocket Brewing, Bubba hazy IPA with a nicely chilled glass. Give Acres Bistro a try and you too will have a new...
Read moreMy wife and I have talked about trying Acres Bistro since it opened several years ago. We finally got around to it for Valentine's Day dinner in 2024. And while I cannot comment on the regular menu items, I can comment that one of the Valentine's menu items was outstanding. I had the Butter Lover's ribeye, with Cajun cayenne butter (which was also added to the baked potato), cooked perfectly medium rare. This steak makes my top five steaks list for the tenderness and flavor. Aside from the baked potato, it also came with a small arugula salad with pickled onions and a sprinkling of pepper, which was amazing. My wife had the ribeye as well, but with blue cheese butter, and was very pleased with her meal. Since it was Valentine's Day, they had a couple of other specials going on; $5 off a bottle of wine, and four complimentary chocolate covered strawberries which they boxed to go since we were both full. The staff we interacted with, including the owner, was attentive, courteous, and seemed to work together as a team. The decor is charming, I really liked the farm windmill ceiling fan and the painting next to our table. In my opinion, the two entree's, a bottle of wine and a craft beer was well worth the bill plus tip, and at some point, I would like to try some of the...
