Our 1st dining experience here: 2:30 pm, Friday, 10/20/23, not terribly busy. The waitress was initially polite, but then scarce. The chips & salsa were good. No napkins were provided with them, that was messy. The 2 of us each ordered chicken enchilada dinners that came with rice & beans. We waited a good 45 minutes before being served. The beans were very cold, the tiny amount of cheese sprinkled on top was not melted. Rice was warm, not unpleasant, nothing special. Enchiladas were hot, cheese melted. The chicken in the enchiladas was quite dry and stale. Mine had some hard dried dark beef or pork in it as well. Tortillas on the enchiladas were very mushy. The mole sauce was very dry & had no flavor. Actually most of the whole meal had very little flavor. The waitress did not return to ask if everything was all right, or if we needed anything else. So I asked the waitress, who was several feet away, if they had some hot sauce. There was a fella/worker filling small to-go cups with hot sauce at one of the dining tables up front. He heard me ask for sauce, then he promptly walked over and plopped the large bottle of sauce he was using to fill the to-go cups with on our table. The large bottle was dirty & sloppy with sauce, the lid was loose... hot sauce was dripping everywhere. I had to go ask for napkins to clean up the mess. While we were dining the waitress/owner? was continuously talking loudly to another person about a negative experience she had with a customer over a food delivery. (nothing to do with our food... but it was an unpleasant distraction during the whole meal). When I got up to pay the waitress acted put out that I was up at the counter while she was answering the phone. A younger fellow came in who was polite and and took my payment. I understand that every meal can’t always be 100% perfect. As this was not the worst food I’ve ever had, I definitely would not repeat it. Most importantly... people have a choice as to how they treat others. We both felt we were not treated very respectfully as customers. There’s nothing wrong with being a...
Read moreWent in around 10 am during the week. One couple was leaving and only one patron other than me was there at the time. It was early, so I cannot comment on how busy it is during lunch/dinner, but it was quiet and sparse when I visited. They do have a breakfast menu but I ordered lunch. Building is small and in need of some TLC - old-school tables and paint. However, it does have a cozy, nonchalant and local feel to it which may be partly because of the friendly service. Cashier was kind and helpful, thorough when I ordered and did not mess up or forget anything. I ordered to go but I still felt so welcomed I tipped her. I noticed she was fluently bilingual. Food took about 10 minutes. Ordered Barbacoa taco (Barbacoa was excellent), chicken and chorizo taco (chicken was a little dry but the chorizo evened it out), chicken tostada and chicken enchilada (which were both excellent as well). Came with rice and beans, not much to say about them one way or another. Ingredients were fresh and tasted delicious, nothing was skimped on. Salsa is surprisingly spicy but I enjoyed it very much and generously put it on everything.
All in all, quiet local spot with good food and good service. I will be returning in the same week! Not the nicest or most spaceous location, but it lacks nothing for it if you take out. I would recommend if you like simple, delicious, traditional Mexican food with no hustle,...
Read moreIt can be hard to find authentic Mexican food like my Mexican mother made. I am happy to announce that I've found it here. As pictured, I had to try a few different menu items. Each item have a nice portion sizes.
The picadillo gordita was delicious.
The taco de lengua was nice.
My favorite is the chile relleno. I don't like sauce, and I was concerned about how the relleno was made. I have had to many use a scrambled egg. 🥴 The chile relleno was made exactly like how my mom made them. (Sorry, I'm not a fan of the tomato sauce.) I had savored each bite that I ordered 2 more to go. I'll be looking forward to my lunch for the next couple days😉 I'm happy to report I will be back and highly recommend coming here for Authentic Mexican food with a clean and chill vibe.
Great service from my waitress Elliana that went back 2x to double check how the chile rellenos were exactly made. I'm really hate ordering anything I get that isn't exactly or close to what mi mama made. I'm happy that I have something so close during my time...
