Surf & Brew Oyster Bar at 235 St John Road in Fletchers, NC is a hidden gem in Western North Carolina. This 4-star restaurant offers a delightful seafood experience that will transport you to the coast.
Starting with the charbroiled oysters, while they may not compare to the ones in NOLA, they still deliver a tasty experience. The options of Parmesan Garlic, Jalapeño Cheddar, or Cajun Cheddar give them a unique twist that adds to the flavor.
The steamed shrimp at Surf & Brew Oyster Bar are cooked to perfection. Each bite is succulent and bursting with freshness. It's evident that the chefs take great care in ensuring the quality of their seafood.
One of the highlights of the menu is the New England Clam Chowder. This creamy and flavorful soup is a real treat for the taste buds. It's evident that the chefs have mastered the art of creating a delicious chowder that leaves you wanting more.
To complement the seafood, Surf & Brew Oyster Bar offers a variety of local beers on tap, bottle, and cans. This adds a local touch to your dining experience and allows you to try different flavors that perfectly pair with the seafood dishes.
The interior decorations of the restaurant truly capture the essence of a seafood establishment. From nautical elements to coastal artwork, the ambiance gives you that unmistakable seafood restaurant feeling. It creates a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for your dining experience.
Despite being located in Western North Carolina, Surf & Brew Oyster Bar surprises with its extensive seafood offerings. The menu features several seafood options and combinations, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to providing a diverse and satisfying dining experience.
While the outdoor seating is a great option, it's worth noting that it faces the parking lot, which may not offer the most picturesque view. However, the overall dining experience compensates for this minor drawback.
If you're looking for a special treat, be sure to check out the nightly specials. On the night of my visit, they offered a tantalizing Salmon, Flounder, and Lobster dinner for just $29.99. It's a great opportunity to indulge in a delightful seafood feast at an affordable price.

Read moreMy husband and I have enjoyed going here in the past, typically the food seems fresh, good beer selection, very nice waitstaff.
My last two visits have been horrible.
The time before this evening, the manager, who is the owners daughter, was screaming so loudly and embarrassingly at the staff, that it made it impossible to eat inside. She would scream at them so loud everyone would jump, and she was horribly insulting and mean. We left without ordering after seeing how she treated the staff.
We tried it again tonight. We again had a sweet and wonderful waitress, and placed our orders. At 6:00 on Saturday they were out of clam chowder, which isn’t a big deal but was 1/2 (literally) of the reason we chose here. The other was so I could have crab legs. I have a shrimp allergy, so I’m limited on the foods I can eat at a sea food restaurant. We ordered drinks, an appetizer, two by the pound fresh sea food plates, and three sides. Staff obviously was hustling and busy, they were all nice and attentive. When our meals came out, my crab legs we completely cold to the touch. Not even kind of warm. They were colder than they would have been by the time you finished your entire meal. I politely let the waitress know and no less than 4 people/staff were touching them to verify that they were cold. The waitress was very sweet and said they would make them fresh for me, and said they must have been sitting/finished while the other items on the table cooked. I get it, no biggie, I was happy to wait for the legs. I was really craving them and excited for the meal.
When the plate came back, I noticed the legs were exactly the same ones (because of some weird white marks on the legs -like dried up saltwater stains) and asked the waitress if they heated the same legs back up… she confirmed that they had, and expressed worry that they may be slightly over cooked now. They were completely hard and like rubber and the meat wouldn’t even break apart when removed from the shell. They didn’t even make the legs fresh, just reboiled or microwaved the “fresh” cold crab legs I was already served.
So I was served reheated food that no less than 4 people touched with bare hands. At $37/lb. How disgusting can a kitchen be?
While my husbands food was fine, this will be the last time we eat here.
Again, the wait staff was wonderful and compensated from our end. This was a...
Read moreLast Friday I thought I would try this new place, it was busy and I started with a beer at the bar while waiting for a table . Not long and I was seated and order was taken, appetizer came it was good but thought the quantity was low for the cost. Dinner came it was a good value and food above average, second beer with dinner as requested. They have many nice local brews on tap. I paid the check with a large bill and this is were it went wrong; When the waitress brought my change back on a tray there were an extra five ones on the top (OK tip money) with the white receipt on the bottom, As she set the little tray with my change down on the table she slipped the white receipt out from the bottom and walked off with it. I though THAT'S STRANGE, better count twice; sure enough 10 bucks short just then the owner came in and asked if everything was OK, I said no she needs to count this change again. The owner took the tray back then the waitress returned with the correct change saying she was sorry that she has lost the receipt; I corrected her reminding here she had removed the receipt from the bottom of the tray, A second lie started to emerge from her mouth and I just looked at her she stopped talking, apologized again and walked away. I guess she thought that after two beers I would not notice her actions. Mr. and Mrs restaurant owner: I have written the details here so that you can manage your business the way you would like with...
